noise in shadow, dark areas

    A friend has a af101. It gets absurd noise in dark areas, even with a samuri recorder. What settings will tone this down? enlarge this to clearly see. This has been graded but noise was same out of camera. thanks.

    With a ton of contrast like in your scene, there is no other cure than better lighting. The AF100 (like the GH2) is not capable of very high dynamic range.

    in settings select iso 100-200

    gh2 does way better than this. It may not resolve what's in shadow areas all that well, but it doesn't spray noise everywhere. This is not a more pleasing constant grain, it's buzzy noise.
