I am looking for a good leveling base. Many recommend acratech, but that is hard to find in germany. It should not be more expensive though. Any suggestions? Thx
I belive that we had discussion not long time ago
It had been related to http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3607/benro-new-2012-lineup-amazing-light-video-tripods-and-fluid-heads#Item_15
As I remember Benro also have separate leveling bases. manfrotto also has one.
Check ebay also. They are not very cheap.
Cheers for your reply Vitaliy. I did not find anything related when i used the search function.
Do you recommend using a leveling base?
If you already have a recent Manfrotto tripod with a triangular cross-section center shaft, the Manfrotto 555B Leveling Center Column is a highly useful upgrade:

What's great is how it allows you to set both height and level of the camera completely independent of the tripod itself. Once you set up the tripod legs for stability, there's no need to readjust them, you can do it all with the leveling shaft.
I use the benro a1680 legs, because they are so light and can be folded to 41cms combined with the manfrotto hd701 video head. So i suppose that does not work?!
I have one of these. It works well. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/554093-REG/Manfrotto_438_438_Compact_Levelling_Head.html
I use it with a Manfrotto tripod. I don't know about your Benro a1680 legs. Cheers.
cheers for your reply, i have been looking at that one too. Its just a bit heavy...
I have used Manfrotto leveling bases but not satisfied with any of them for different reasons. I use Sunway DYH-90 leveling base with Manfrotto 501HDV head and works well. Take a look at the Sunway site. http://www.sunwayfoto.com/html/products/000658.html
cheers for your answers, i am trying the novoflex magic balance now. Lets see if its any good, i prefer made in germany over made in china, although my benro legs work fine :-)
