If they would drop the price to $4000, this would be very tempting. I want it, but considering a Z8 is coming soon with likely very similar specs, which must be at least 1K less than the Z9, this camera only makes sense for professionals getting paid for sporting events at the moment. Yes, that is the intended market, but surely Canon would like to capture a more wide spread market. More realistically I imagine this will drop to $5300 very soon (before Z8 roll out), then 6 months after the Z8 when sales of the R3 drop to nearly 0, it will come down appropriately. I know canon has been very busy ensuring chip supply is met.. so it will be interesting to see what the lowest price they are comfortable with is.
