    House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Rules Committee Chairman James McGovern (D-MA) unveiled the rules for the 117th Congress on Friday, which contain “future-focused” proposals, including the elimination of gendered terms, such as “father, mother, son, and daughter.”

    In clause 8(c)(3) of rule XXIII, gendered terms, such as “father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, husband, wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, stepsister, half brother, half sister, grandson, or granddaughter” will be removed.

    In their place, terms such as “parent, child, sibling, parent’s sibling, first cousin, sibling’s child, spouse, parent-in-law, child-in-law, sibling-in-law, stepparent, stepchild, stepsibling, half-sibling, or grandchild” will be used, instead.

    On Monday, the Democratic-controlled lower house voted by a party majority to approve new guidelines for the official language. Pronouns such as "he" and "she" will be replaced by themself. Down with words like "father", "mother" , "son", "daughter", "brother", "sister", "uncle", "aunt" and others related to family ties. Everything is to be replaced with the words "parent", "child", "relative" and so on. Disgruntled Republican minority leader Kevin McCarthy called the change stupid, an accurate but incomplete characterization.

    It is also reported that the committee will "respect all types of gender and will replace all pronouns and words denoting family ties with gender-neutral in the rules of the House of Representatives."

    The resolution of the House of Representatives indicates which specific terms and pronouns should no longer be used. The nautical term “seamen” will be replaced by the gender-neutral “seafarers”, which does not include “men”. The situation is similar with the word "chairman", in the new directive it will be replaced by "chair".

    The language changes also put an end to the phrase “he / she is submitting his / her resignation letter” and was replaced by “resign”. The phrase “he / she abstains” will be replaced by “this member, delegate, permanent representative is abstaining”, and instead of “himself / herself”, “yourself”.

    House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Norms Committee Chair James P. McGovern said the move would make the House "the most inclusive in history."
