Very cool. Thanks!
I've never liked synths, now I know why. Thanks!
Top synths keyboards are extremely good :-)
My 1925 upright piano needs a little work. One of these days when I have time...
pssh, weighted action piano keys are for old farts ;-)
Waterfall keys all the way. Get your hands on a REAL DEAL Hammond organ with some waterfall keys, and you will never go back. It is not the same as cheap plastic springy action on new keyboards, it is far more subtle.
Hmm. Looks strange.
Hammond "originated" this key style by using a piano keyboard as his design prototype and discovering that he could keep production costs lower with this design. The key action is a simple steel spring in the back of the key and a lip on the bottom front of the key that catches the key rail
I see no difference with synth action keyboard.
I don't know what he did differently, but it really does feel different than any synth keyboard I've ever played (at least both of my Hammonds do). It IS just a spring action, but it is decidedly less springy. Keys return much faster than a piano, but are at the same time very light to depress. Hard to explain. Watch how light Joey's touch is:
Or watch Billy slide down on the tip of his thumb in the beginning of this:
OK, I understand. Btw, Microstation keyboard is light to press and fastest from ones I tried (not much, about 5-6 keybeds fron midi and synths). But keys are small :-)
I fuckin love my Roland v-piano keys! Talking of keys, just bought a QPAD PC keyboard with old style IBM clicks - lovely!
