Does anyone have any experience with this mic? I have been looking for a cheaper alternative to Sennheiser 416. Aputure Deity's sound is quite similar but not as directional. I wonder how this Saramonic would mearsure up. Unfornately there's not much buzz about it on the internet. tkx!

Do you have real measurement comparison?
Rode NTG-3 so called "open box" (to avoid minimum price fine) is $499.
From other good stuff are
MXL shotgun mikes are really good, actually while little known.
Senal is B&H brand, they make solid stuff also.
Tkx Vitalie:)

the difference in off-axis rejection is quite obvious.haven't been able to find review of mxl or senal. I have seen an offer of ntg3 for $380 used (w/ 9 yrs warranty attached). seems to have a tigher pick-up pattern according to this guy. https://wavreport.com/2017/10/28/aputure-deity-mic-review/ so perhaps this is the best 416 alternative for the time being.
@Vitaliy_Kiselev Do you have any experience with MXL FR-303? How does it compare to the NTG3 or Aputure Deity? I know you would recommend 304and 333, but this is the only mxl shotgun I can find this side of the lake.
I talked about older FR-300, it was around $100-120 mike btw. Inflation happened :-)
Better get https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/999092-REG/mxl_mxl_fr_333m_shotgun_microphone.html
Main advantages of NTG3 and Deitry is construction, not sound only. They are more suitable for hard stuff, lot of RF around, etc
If you're looking for a "416 clone" your only options are RODE NTG3 or Aputure Deity. Which are already darn cheap.
There is a big difference between a NTG2 or NTG4 and a NTG3
Also, beware of the chinese 416 fakes if a 416 seems suspiciously cheap.
I end up buying a lightly used NTG3 for about $350. Had this option not been available, might take a punt on Saramonic TM7 instead. Aputure Deity's pickup pattern in too wide for outdoor interviews.
This is a test of NTG2, 3, TM7, and MKE600 for those who are interested.
