Capitalism: Degradation galore
  • A group of prominent lawyers representing teachers and students from poor performing schools sued California on Tuesday, arguing that the state has done nothing about a high number of schoolchildren who do not know how to read.

Assessments found less than half of California students from third grade to fifth grade have met statewide literacy standards since 2015. Both traditional and charter schools are failing, Rosenbaum said.

State assessments found 96 percent of students at the La Salle school were not proficient in English or math, according to the lawsuit. Only eight of the school's 179 students were found to be proficient when tested last year.

  • There's a good chance this is about immigration, not capitalism.

  • @brianl

You mean that it is immigrants who eat too much, and not Apple shits who got 47 billions savings thanks to capitalist new tax bill?

  • Nope. Just regarding that data about poor reading skills. Lots of non English speakers in Calif schools. Capitalism in general in America doesn't really feel like capitalism any more. Democracy seems over too. Most americans don't support our elected leaders and vice versa.

  • did Apple actually get 47b?

  • did Apple actually get 47b?

Apple will see up to $47bn potential benefit from tax reform

Well, various strange ideas come to mind if you do not read classic works.

Faith in “democracy” in general, as a universal panacea, and failure to understand that this democracy is bourgeois democracy, historically limited in its usefulness and its necessity, have for decades and centuries been particularly characteristic of the petty bourgeoisie of all countries.

The petty bourgeois, owning to his economic position and his conditions of life generally, is less able to appreciate this truth, and even cherishes the illusion that a democratic republic implies “pure democracy”, “a free people’s state”, the non-class or supra-class rule of the people, a pure manifestation of the will of the people, and so on and so forth. The tenacity of these prejudices of the petty-bourgeois democrat is inevitably due to the fact that he is farther removed from the acute class struggle, the stock exchange, and “real” politics; and it would be absolutely un-Marxist to expect these prejudices to be eradicated very rapidly by propaganda alone.

In capitalism there is no new tax bill. This is in fact not capitalism at all but crony capitalism.

Capitalism = no tax and no benefits from the state.

I already wrote - various strange ideas come to mind if you do not read classic works.

Even whole horrible concept of "crony capitalism" is possible only if you can agree with unreal idea that some "crony" guys induce laws and state upon good capitalists.

Thing that you refer here is normal development of capitalism. It is same across the globe. Same way you can't return to time of big slave empires you can't return to world full of petty bourgeoisie and small capitalists. And whole dream part of this concept exist only in the head of modern petty bourgeoisie. They see how they are pushed to become proletariat and dream about old good days (and they never had been good).
