I was disappointed about my ryzen machine before, but I think my drives were my bottle neck. When I transcode from a usb 3.5 drive to an ssd, I get really good transcoding speeds in avid, ffmpeg and adobe media encoder. I'm using this ryzen box mainly for transcoding now, because it seems sluggish playing back video in avid. But it works well with premiere since premiere likes cuda. sorry not a scientific explanation
I didn't have a ram stick seated correctly so that screen grab only shows 16gb but im back to 32gb.
If project is complex but not long and has lot of compressed files can use

Get 16GB for RAM disk and put all source footage.
I do not really understand how Avid can be sluggish on such systems.
