Updated with new BH deal and ebay offers.
I was thinking that maybe with Metabones Speed Booster this lens would be even more interesting. You would have something like 8-17 f2.8 and of course the 12-24 f4. And at $150 less than Tokina 11-16 2.8 (that would become a 7-11 f2) I think this is a more versatile option for m43. Just thinking ;)
Not sure how that would work as exactly as from my understanding, the Speed Booster takes advantage of that formula on FF lenses. The Tokina 11-16 and 12-24mm are EF-S crop lens, so I think you'll get the hard vignette at those under 15mm focal length. Only way to know for sure is test one.
He means m43 version, it works with any APS-C lens.
Exactly, I was thinking of my beloved GH2 :)
Does the lens barrel extend when focusing or zooming, mechanical focusing?
Just picked up one of these for $310 on Ebay. Can't wait to check it out.
@vicharris Did you get EF version?
@stonebat Nope, all my lenses are Nikon mount but I did see a cheap EF version on Ebay too if you're looking.
I'm going to wait until someone tests it out with Metabones Speed Booster :)
Tokina AF 12-24mm f/4 AT-X 124 Pro DX II review
It’s damned sharp wide open and as stated before, we almost never wanted to stop it down. If anything, we mostly shot at f4 or f5.6. Anyone that buys this lens should not be complaining about the sharpness at all. With this in mind, we think that it would have performed even better on the Nikon D7100 than the D5200. The reason for this is due to the lack of an AA filter. That means that you’ll get much more sharpness from the image.
Tokina has created an excellent lens in the form of the 12-28mm f4 II. Not only are you getting exceptional build quality and even better image quality, but you’re getting it at a damned good price.
