If you wish to achieve a similar result a bit better with real 3D perspective (instead of flat 2D layers) use NukeX. You won't even have to use Photoshop.

Flat layers on planes in 3D space is how this would work in NukeX as well. There's no magic in NukeX that turns a still photo into 3D. It's still images textured to flat planes.
