Taiwan-based Advanced Semiconductor Engineering's (ASE) is likely to take over Panasonic's IC backend sites overseas, according to a recent Chinese-language Commercial Times report.
The report came on the heels of a Nikkei report indicating Panasonic is looking to downsize its chipmaking unit by slashing the workforce by half and possibly selling some of its plants.
