So it's late june again and GoPro's production partner in China are now making the next gen Hero at the factory for release in september/october 2023.
Suggested rumours for the Hero 12:
You can wonder if this supposed leak is given just to interfere with the DJI Action 4 launch.
Anyways, 1-inch sensor, 8K mode, 4K 240 fps, bigger LCD and somewhat fatter body design.
Finally a GoPro for the Pros.
Interesting, thanks.
As suspected rumours about 1 inch sensor etc was bogus.
Another incremental update it seems. So incremental that HyperSmooth 6.0 is the only new feature.
Updated GoPro 12 Leaks:
* GoPro plans to introduce the GoPro Hero 12 Black.
* Camera retains the 5.3K sensor, is 27 MP photos and 5.3K videos.
* HyperSmooth 6.0 improves image stabilization, otherwise software remains unchanged.
* Battery life increases to up to 70 minutes at 5.3K and 60 FPS.
* Housing is waterproof up to 10 meters
* Sales start on the 13th. September 2023, price remains at around 450 euros.
* Upgrade is mainly limited to battery life.
This info is more real.
Corporations now minimize all expenses.
HERO12 Black features many new, powerful pro-minded capabilities that will also benefit more casual users thanks to their intuitive and convenient design:
I heard that main innovation is new Tiktok oriented mode :-)
Hardware changes on the Hero12: removing GPS and add new folding fingers with threads for tripod screws. Everything else is software only. Quite amazing. Cost savings: removed the previously included case and GPS hardware.
The Lens Max Mod 2 is also new "hardware" for $100 extra, supposedly designed specifically for the new square aspect ratio sensor introduced in the Hero11.
Most likely the GPS module was hardwired into the circuit and used power even if you turned off the GPS functionality in the menu. Thus removing it does indeed conserve on the battery power.
