China has piloted its first hydrogen fuel cell hybrid locomotive. According to Xinhua News Agency, the test took place on a railroad for transporting coal in northeastern China.
This railway line connects the Baiyinhua Coal Mine in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region with the Jinzhou Port in Liaoning Province. Its length is 627 km. The commissioning of the new locomotive will reduce carbon emissions by about 96 thousand tons per year.
