    UK GDP fell by a record 9.9% in 2020, the biggest drop in 100 years. Trends in 2021 are not very optimistic. In January, the bank's Barclays division recorded a 16% decline in consumer spending, year on year. Moreover, 63% of all purchases of non-food products were made online, which is twice as much as a year earlier.

    According to a survey conducted by the Federation of Small Businesses, during 2021, approximately 250,000 small businesses will have to close if the government does not provide additional targeted assistance.
