Capitalism: Toilet paper availability in danger, again
  • In the context of the ongoing pandemic of the coronavirus infection COVID-19, the world again fan face interruptions in toilet paper supply. At a time when stores are once again closed in many countries around the world and consumers are increasingly at homes constantly eating and producing more shit, toilet paper manufacturers may face a shortage of raw materials.

The reason for the deficit may be an increase in demand for the carriage of goods by sea and a shortage of ships supporting them. Exporters of goods transported in containers were the first to suffer, but now the crisis threatens to spill over to goods delivered by sea in other types of packaging - bags, barrels, boxes, etc. Walter Schalka, head of the Brazilian company Suzano SA, which accounts for about a third of the world's supply of the type of wood pulp that goes to the production of toilet paper, told Bloomberg about the emergence of problems with the export of wood pulp (a semi-finished product for making paper).

Main cause of shipping issues are newly printed trillions by US, EU, Japan and China.

  • Costco, one of the largest retailers in the United States, has warned its customers that their orders for "certain items" will be "delayed" without specifying which items are involved or how long to expect. Local shoppers are making it clear that in some states, the chain's stores have disappeared from shelves such as toilet paper, paper towels or water.
