Biomass, the main source of which is wood from forests, now accounts for almost 60% of renewable energy sources in the EU, and this is more than solar and wind combined. And this at a time when in Europe it is impossible to take a step without seeing some windmill or a solar panel, and any European news site constantly writes about the success of windmills and solar energy.
In Estonia, Natura 2000 lost more than 15,000 hectares of forest cover between 2001 and 2019, which is more than double the area of Manhattan and has accounted for 80% of this loss in the last five years. But the government has no plans to stop and is engaged in further changes in the rules in other national parks in Estonia.
Almost all European countries have recorded an increase in the volume of logging for energy. Almost a quarter of the trees felled in the EU in 2019 were used for energy production, up from 17% in 2000.
Between 2008 and 2018, subsidies for biomass, the main source of which is wood, among 27 European countries increased by 143%. In the UK, government support for biomass projects is expected to total more than £ 13 billion by 2027 - the expiration date for existing subsidy agreements, according to climate think tank Ember.
In 2019, the British government paid the Drax power plant € 2.4 million a day for green electricity. Drax will receive more than € 11.2 billion from the UK government from its switch to biomass in 2012 until the subsidies expire in 2027.
The UK is currently the largest payer of bioenergy subsidies in Europe is spending over £1.9 billion in 2019 primarily on imported wood combustion at Drax.
Other European governments are following this example. In the Netherlands, the government has promised energy companies RWE, Uniper and Onyx more than €3.5 billion in biomass subsidies, making the country one of the largest wood pellet importers in Europe.
This is why pinky left want total control other any media - they should not tell you about their doings, at least not make it mainstream information.
