    There have been reports of IBM plans to lay off 8,000 employees in Europe, including 2,000 in the UK and Ireland. The company previously said it would lay off part of the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last week, IBM told its staff in Europe that consultations would begin shortly and would last 45 days.

    The company declined to provide specific figures on the scale of the layoffs, but a source familiar with the matter told Channel Partner Insight (CPI) that about 8,000 jobs are expected to be lost at IBM subsidiaries in Europe.
