Capitalism: US government will openly fight against people interests

    There are rising chances that the US government will impose sanctions on additional Chinese memory makers, following SMIC. In our view, Chinese memory makers that recently started mass production will face difficult business conditions.

    Additional Chinese memory makers to be subject to US government sanctions

    According to media reports in Taiwan and China last week, there are rising chances that China’s CXMT and YMTC will become the next targets of US trade sanctions (following Chinese foundry maker SMIC). Under the sanctions, firms that supply products containing US technology to Chinese companies must obtain a license from the US government.

    Chinese memory makers have started mass production in earnest in 2020. DRAM player CXMT currently manufactures products based on 19nm processes with a capacity of 40K wpm. The firm plans to start mass production of 17nm products by yearend. Meanwhile, in September, NAND player YMTC held a presentation to launch SSDs using its Xtacking technology. Xtacking makes peripheral circuits on a separate wafer and then attaches the wafers with memory array via hybrid bonding. YMTC’s capacity has risen from 15K at the beginning of 2020 to 40K wpm. The company also announced 128-layer QLC 3D NAND products in April.

    If mass production and capacity expansions proceed at the current pace, Chinese memory makers could have a significant impact on global memory supply/ demand after 2022. However, if the US government’s sanctions become a reality, they will inevitably hurt the future moves of Chinese memory makers that started mass production this year.

    US government now openly fight to keep record margins for Micron, Intel and Samsung.

    It is badly kept secret that DRAM and NAND production is extremely profitable and all companies formed criminal cartels who sponsor all main politicians in US, EU, South Korea and Japan.

    @Vitaliy....2 plus 2 doesn't equal 5. You're extrapolating a conclusion. Another more obvious conclusion is the US govt is beginning to punish china for it's crime.

    Yes, yes, of course. :-) It is just coincidence that such punishment will bring billions to the pockets of people in US administration and US politicians.

    @Vitaliy ...that's the result of taking china's candy away. It was cheap candy that didn't taste very good anyway. Globalist went chinese because it was cheap as dirt, but now the gate swings the other way, which will benefit US based corporations, as it should have always been. You're against the globalist...or not ? Or are you just against anyone who's against china ? Obvious answer.

    Well, actually I hate many Chinese capitalists the most, yet Chinese capitalism is very different. In big part it is much more progressive. In big part is is extremely archaic :-)

    Can it be cool to have left wing turn of Chinese communist party? Of course, but time must come and ideas must first arise with proper materialist situation behind them.

    @Vitaliy ....capitalism is sized to fit. Comes in a variety of sizes. You're a small capitalist. You might better have said , you're against 'big capitalist'...the kind that used to be 'small capitalist' but grew too big and passed your imaginary line....in an imaginary place. In this real place we call the 'world', consequences will grow, and whomever steps up to the manufacturing plate will get a chance to bat. China most likely will be stifled at every point, made to pay damages the world deems fair. In many cases, consumers will be forced to pay, yet real value might still be reflected in the superior product.

    Micron Technology is confident that its Chinese rivals will not be able to challenge the largest U.S. memory chipmaker anytime soon, despite Beijing's efforts to cut reliance on foreign chip suppliers, a senior executive at the American company told Nikkei Asia in an exclusive interview.

    Manish Bhatia, Micron's executive vice president, said that even with "deep pockets" it will take time for Chinese newcomers to make a significant impact on the global memory chip market, but stressed that his company takes all competition seriously and is paying close attention to the progresses of emerging Chinese competitors.

    This guys know stuff :-) They will fight.
