GH2 Hack / Final Cut Pro reality check
  • I've been testing various GH2 hacks courtesy of--and with thanks to--Driftwood. When I check the MTS files in Streamparser, the video is showing the higher bit rates, as expected. However, when I Log and Transfer the files into Final Cut Pro, the data rates are reported as about 13 MB / sec. This value is the same for video shot with the stock Panasonic settings and the Hack settings. Just checking, but is this what I should be seeing?

    Regards and thanks, sdbest

  • @sdbest, Bytes or Bites? If it was shot at around 104 Mega Bits / sec- then thats 13 Mega Bytes / sec...

  • I'll jump in before you get your head chewed off (only cause it's a common question). When you log and transfer in Final Cut, the MTS files get transcoded over to a flavor of Prores (422HQ, 422, 422LT, etc). and it won't read as your initial nitrate that you saw in streamparser. Not to worry, you aren't losing any of the benefits of the hack. Also, be careful because mbits/sec and MB/sec are two very different things. Hope that helps.
