The number of child population in Ukraine since 2014 decreased by 40%. This was stated by the head of the Directorate for the Protection of Children's Rights of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine Ruslan Kolbasa on September 8.
Newborns over five years from 2014 to 2020 decreased from 465 thousand to 330 thousand, that is, by about 30%.
The total number of children has decreased by 40%.
He also noted that the percentage of new marriages is decreasing, the percentage of divorces per thousand of the population is increasing, the total number of childbearing is decreasing.
Since 2014, every fifth child is born not in stable family. Hence more than ten thousands children received the status of a child deprived of parental care or orphanhood in a year. More than 386 thousands children are in difficult life circumstances due to constantly decreasing income of their families.
