The latest update to the Lightroom app for iPhone and iPad inadvertently wiped all of a users’ photos and presets that were not already synced to the cloud. Adobe has confirmed that there is no way to get them back.
Idea of simple silent and invincible updates for Mac OS X and Windows apps is the central idea, Apple and Microsoft have few partners that help them worn on this feature, main partner being Adobe. Feature release is planned to late 2021 or 2022 release.
Total subscription model and piracy elimination will require part of application to reside in the cloud, as well as local part stopping working totally if it had not been updated for more than one week. This is their 2 year plan.
We are aware that some customers who updated to Lightroom 5.4.0 on iPhone and iPad may be missing photos and presets that were not synced to the Lightroom cloud.
A new version of Lightroom mobile (5.4.1) for iOS and iPadOS has now been released that prevents this issue from affecting additional customers.
Installing version 5.4.1 will not restore missing photos or presets for customers affected by the problem introduced in 5.4.0.
We know that some customers have photos and presets that are not recoverable. We sincerely apologize to any customers who have been affected by this issue.
In real life it should have legal consequences and millions USD of payments, but... make sure to check video about RED, it has part on software licenses
