SAMYANG Announces Mk2 Versions of Legendary Manual Focus Lenses for full frame DSLRs: NEW MF 14mm F2.8 Mk2 and MF 85mm F1.4 Mk2
May 25th 2020, Seoul, South Korea - Samyang Optics Co., Ltd., a leading global optics manufacturer, announces the long-awaited renewal of two classic and respected manual focus lenses for full Frame DSLRs: The new MF 14mm F2.8 Mk2 and MF 85mm F1.4 Mk2 lenses will be available in 6 different mounts as follows: Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony E, Fujifilm X, Canon M and MFT.
The Samyang MF 14mm F2.8 Mk2 is an ultra-wide-angle, manual-focus lens with superb sharpness from corner to corner, even at its maximum wide-open aperture. The 115.7˚ wide angle of view is ideal for shooting landscapes, interiors, astro-photography etc. and the attached lens hood effectively blocks unwanted light so you can shoot as you wish.
What’s New? - Main Features
Focus Lock & De-click Aperture Option
The MF 14mm F2.8 Mk2 includes two completely new features: “Focus Lock” & “De-click”. Now you can lock the focus ring at a specific point, greatly improving precision and repeatability, especially useful in astrophotography and time-lapse shots. The de-clicked aperture option allows infinitely fine adjustment between F-stops. By rotating the silver ring from 'Click' to 'Free', you can adjust the aperture smoothly and precisely, to ensure exactly the right amount of light is captured.
Beautiful Bokeh - 9 Aperture Blades
In terms of bokeh performance, the 9-rounded aperture blades help to achieve excellent smooth and creamy out of focus backgrounds. The 9 aperture blades also provide clearly defined sunstars when the aperture is stopped-down.
Exterior Design
The MF 14mm F2.8 Mk2 has a consistent and balanced exterior design of body and lenshood. There is also a new micro-pattern texture on the rubber focus ring which provides comfortable, positive handling.
Creative Expression with Ultra Wide-Angle of View (115.7˚)
With a minimum focusing distance of just 0.28m (0.92ft) and its 115.7˚ angle of view, this lens allows users to create compositions that emphasize dramatic perspective that is unique to ultra-wide-angle lenses.
14 Elements in 10 Groups (1 ASP, 1 Hybrid ASP, 1 ED, 3 HR) with UMC
The MF 14mm F2.8 Mk2 features a total of 14 elements in 10 groups. These include 3 High Refractive, 1 Hybrid Aspherical, 1 Aspherical and 2 Extra-low Dispersion elements. The special optical design adjusts the light path through the lens for clear and vibrant images and also corrects chromatic aberration.
Usability / Weather sealing
Environmental seals are located around the lens mount area to prevent infiltration of moisture and/or rain drops. This feature provides an additional layer of protection when shooting outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
