Idiots news galore: Sony fake blame and DRAM shortage
  • “Sony has already canceled some previously planned features for a new mirrorless camera due this year owing to the constrained DRAM supply, several people with knowledge of the matter said.” – Japan Times

This is being republished over and over.

Actually it could not get any official credible source (just rumor words) and SOLE purpose of this is that Sony now wants to find foundation for their high Playstation 5 price. And it can't. As coronavirus broke all their plans (much smaller demand for NAND and DRAM now).

So NAND and DRAM manufacturers cartels had been not prepared and prices for chips did not rebound as they planned.

Sony secured NAND and DRAM for special very nice private prices (around 30% below lower point on the market) and wanted to get nice big profits from PS5 from the start. But now try to postpone price announcements as it'll look silly.

  • Assuming the claim is true, Sony may have decided to remove a planned stacked DRAM image sensor.

And this thing (comes, as usual from Andrew who has big issues with any tech stuff) is just nuts.

DRAM for such is specially made thing, that has almost NOTHING to so with usual DRAM chips demand.

And it is not high demand now, it is very low demand that is issue for both Sony and cartels.
