Multi domain LCD panels

    Lot of larger panels, and some small PVA/MVA ones use multi domain panels where each color for pixel has multiple separate domains. Idea is that it usually perceived as having better contrast and technically as domain become larger it is much harder to do it consistent.

    One issue is that such panels have issues with Cleartype, as well as strange perception of some sharp elements boundaries.

    If you deal in sharpness on such monitor it can also produce strange results.
