I just purchased the 480GB for 55$ with that code https://www.rakuten.com/shop/adata/product/ASU650SS-480GT-C/ Reviews are all over the map - newegg have many claiming failures after a few months, others are claiming slow performance. Others still say that everything is fine. Might it be shill wars?

Such DRAM-less SSDs are most hard competition thing.
And A-DATA is very strong seller. Some of them will fail, yes, as any cheap drives. Performance, by idea, must be same, but may be they try to use different NAND memory suppliers.
