If you look at the decades, there’s always cycles of westerns, war movies and comedies, but there have been horror films straight through. The only difference is budgets — whether they’re A pictures or B pictures.

Lam: Genre has a commercial value to distributors and sales agents internationally as they can sell it more easily than straightforward drama. You get to hide the cod liver oil, so to speak.
