I run a gh2 with cake 2.3 in720 and edit in vegas 12. Whenever i film tree leaves especially in the wind or vertical stripes in shirts etc and especially grass the footage has like a flicker in it. Ive read about moire and aliasing i suppose thats what it is. Im wondering how i can elininate it. I find it very distracting. Any insight is most appreciated
What shutter speed do you shoot at?
125 always. I think its what they call moire
If your shooting 24p, I suggest a shutter speed of 40, This was brought to my attention by the member Kholi, and it certainly looks the best to my eyes. But when shooting 60p, A shutter of 125 through 2000 depending on what you plan to do in post is fine providing you have the extra light and are slowing it down. Are you converting to 24p? or are you exporting 60p? Stuttering footage is usually either from panning to fast, moire, or shutter speed being to high. When shutter speed is to low it smears the image. So if your not slowing down the footage, and keep it 60p, try different speeds to see what looks best.
