Panoramic Hack?

    I would like a hack to add a 1:3 (12:36) option to "image area." The hack would put correct horizontal lines in finder and crop both top and bottom thirds of sensor.

    Is that possible?

    For what camera? And for what purpose?

    Oh right, sorry. I thought I was in the D800E forum. For the D800E. Purpose is to achieve 1:3 format in-camera. With a wide-angle lens, it would be the perfect panoramic. Leica did this with one of their S2's successfully.

    perhaps this could increase the available bitrate for the non-cropped area?

    hmm-an added bonus, but I don't think it works that way, at least not with the built-in 5:4 and dx crops.
