I found it strange that while he talked a lot about fossil fuels, he didn't discuss nuclear very much. It's energy potential is huge if we could just get past our fear of it.

Because you missed the point. It is more focused on global things and especially focused on fossil fuels, as in many areas we do not have any replacement for them.
Right now with existing technology no potential exist, unfortunately. It is more like projections, mostly unfounded.
