Note! It is only render and preliminary specs, but I like approach.
Interesting.. any reports on exact pricing/availability?
Interesting sensor size.... here is comparison to common sensor sizes:
Here's the some details from Dan... http://www.dslrnewsshooter.com/2013/01/13/the-chinese-kineraw-mini-s35-camera-a-new-rival-to-blackmagic-design-cinema-camera/
This is very very very interesting!!!!!! design wise is has lot in common with red, but less controls. This new modular aproach from manufacturers is getting really good.
The sensor is 4:3 so anamorphic is possible, and its size, its also very charming. At 11.5 stops...BMCC has 13...so its about price now.
The only thing i really hate avbout BMCC is that is heavily mac oriented, that sucks. Im shure lots of buyers quit only for that reason.
All wrong in this design is exactly idea to be like Red. You don't need to with modern hardware.
Also, I am strong proponent of USB 3.0 connectors (plus take into account that in mid 2013 spec will be upped again). And no internal recording at all. Just support for external drives.
EOS mount? wtf?
11.5 stops Really bad Rolling shutter, apparently worse than any DSLR out
That's the spec of the original, can't see this one being better.
These guys need to put out better footage.
EOS mount seems like a logical choice if they're targeting DSLR users like what BlackMagic did.
@kholi havent noticed any bad rolling shutter based on this
They need better PR thats for sure.
That's because no one moves the camera.
Someone that had it actually reported the worst rolling shutter he had ever seen.
@kholi so I heard when BMCC was just released yet it's total fine now. We have to see an actual footage of this rolling shutter you speak of. I have hopes for BMCC and this Kmini :)
@retrospective In the first footage off the BMCC, from John Brawley, it was clear that there was a little rolling shutter, not much (as one part was shot handheld, with the camera alone if I´m not mistaken). The amount of locked down shots for the kinefinity cam is a warning sign in itself. However, there is nothing that says this has to be the same as the full version.. and above all; I have no doubt there will be future versions with better sensors / readout - so the competition is welcomed as far as I´m concerned.
Do you have some samples to share of the rolling shutter issues with this camera?
They have some update of info
based on the renderings the sensor seems so small inside the mount that cannot be S35.. strange..

It is renderings, hence nothing strange.
Cineform Codec built in?
@DrDave, the next model up says it records CineForm RAW, the KineRAW-S35. The KineRAW-MINI specs read that a CineForm RAW offline file can be optionally created using the dedicated software as you are copying footage to the workstation.
I hope CineForm/GoPro will show their own prototype RAW camera at NAB 2013.
They are now reporting 13 stops in EI mode. It's definitely looking good on paper and has stuff the BMCC doesn't have. Cineform RAW, s35 sensor, HDMI, 720p 60p, and interchangeable mount. It's still a good chunk of change more expensive though.
I thought it was smaller than Epic/Scarlet or at least not bigger, doesn't really deserve to be named 'MINI' ;) I very much like the images out of Kineraw S35 though, very organic and cinematic looking, way more than BMC imo. Cineform offload option is also very nice and price of course is great.
Somebody already did the preorder? Nobody answers email..
Anyone still interested in this? I just got off the phone with a rep in Germany and it's available now. Once you add on all the modules (raw, wifi, etc.), the price jumps but it's still relatively affordable. I just wish there was more sample footage and hands on opinions.
