I'll be renting out PL Mount Zoom lenses for the Panasonic GH2. Been asked to give a list - which lenses would you recommend.
Speed is important, f/2.0 or faster. Looking for a range of focal lengths.
What PL mount lenses would you guys recommend?

If those are above your budget you might be able to find some good vintage cine zooms..
@RRRR Both of these lenses seem great, many thanks. f/2.6 sounds great for a zoom too. They should be within budget.
Going to look into those. Do you think they may be overkill for a GH2 or perfect?
Personally I wouldnt hesitate to put those babies on a gh2 or any cam for that matter..!
@RRRR - Haha brilliant. I'm looking into hiring the Zeiss Lightweight Zoom. Hopefully it shouldn't prove too difficult as I'd have to hire it in Turkey, since it's for a commercial shoot in Cyprus.
I'd have to hire a PL mount adaptor with that as well then. Any specific one you would recommend?
@nomad - Many thanks nomad!
It's been said the Canon 8-64mm T2.4 PL mount Cine Zoom Lens can work on the GH2/3/Blackmagic Cinema Camera to about 12mm before vignetting...These lenses are made for Super 16mm and are heavy glass! Rental houses will snatch them up once they know it works..
@fosterchen.. could work reasonably well on the gh3. Would vignette way too heavily on the gh2 (IMO). I checked some of the test shots and it´s not a setup I´d choose every day of the week. The thing is, you get more of the image circle than what was intended in the lens construction. Being an already expensive lens, it won´t make much of a difference (at least not where I live) if I rent a DP rouge or that Canon Cine Zoom.
I wonder how they manage to adapt flange distance of PL (52/54mm) to dramatically shorter mft (<20mm) ?
Long to short is never a problem…
sorry, it was an error in reasoning by myself
Regardless of the cine lens you rent, you'll have a good time going back to still lenses if you do:) keep in mind that the front heaviness will require a good tripod with balancing and or spring compensation, Have fun with the shoot. I hope we can see the ad when it's done. Cheers
@bheath - Thanks man, that shoot actually got delayed and I've recently been sorting out my kit list once again now that it's back on.
Opted for a small promo project in the mean time for a Turkish restaurant. Shot on the C300 + Zeiss Super Speeds and some Standard Speeds.
You can watch that here:
password: restaurant@Donnie88 you should have declared this clip as NSBL (not safe before lunch)
edit: it means also well done!
@peaceonearth - Haha! The amount of people that have said similar things.
