Trade may decide by the end of the week to limit margins on a number of socially important products.

"Currently, together with the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and retail chains, the possibility of voluntary restrictions on margins on certain groups of socially significant goods is being discussed. The Ministry expects to complete this work by the end of this week," the Ministry of Agriculture reports following a meeting of the interdepartmental headquarters, which discussed measures to stabilize food prices.

According to him, currently there is a downward trend in prices for pork, chicken meat, eggs and fish. At the same time, the situation with vegetables and potatoes requires special attention. Given that prices for foreign vegetables are higher than Russian ones, the strategic task is to expand domestic production. In this regard, the Ministry of Agriculture is developing a federal project aimed at stimulating the production of potatoes and vegetables.
