    What's the point of the "mode" button to change M, S1, S2, and T, when you can simply move the microphones by hand to 30/90degrees and bi-directional?

    In other words, if I use the button modes without physically moving the mics, then?

    You have to switch from mono to stereo with the mode button and back.
