Samsung will me making Intel CPUs, Intel can be out of race to 3nm
  • Samsung Electronics Co. has agreed to supply central processing units (CPUs) for computers to Intel Corp. to help address the U.S. chipmaker's chip supply issues, industry sources said Thursday.

Intel has been struggling to meet demand for 14-nanometer chips for PCs since late 2018 and recently issued an apology to its customers for shipment delays.

According to semiconductor industry sources, Intel has chosen Samsung to be its third-party foundry to ramp up its 14-nm production capacity as part of efforts to deal with its prolonged processor shortage.

"Samsung was chosen as a partner as it is one of a couple of foundries that can meet Intel's demand for 14-nm production, among other reasons," the source said, without elaborating on the production schedule.

It can be dangerous sign. As only TSMC and Samsung are able to make 7nm chips.

And Intel trying to rely on Samsung can be way to add safety net, if their own 7nm process will follow horrible fate of 10nm one.

  • "The letter from last week says we will increase our use of foundry so we can build more CPUs at Intel. The news reports about our use of third party foundries for CPUs are inaccurate."

Just like Olympus, main idea here to not allow any panic on stock market and get their end year bonuses.

Do not worry, Samsung will be in game.
