This one is for Xeons.
Yep, 2 CPUs, 6 channel memory for both. 7 full size slots can be absent in cheap consumer MB, but all else will be same.
Intel and AMD still want to trick people, just watch new 16 core AMD testing guides and how reviewers will tell you how nice is to have 2 channel memory (if you properly select benchmarks) . :-)
That MB looks nice :-) I'm looking forward to something like this for 2x Threadripper CPUs, Xeons are way way to expensive.
how nice is to have 2 channel memory
Thats why I went with the Threadripper-plattform, 4 channel/8 memory slots. Especially for video editing with its huge amount of data that gets transfered multiple times into-/out of the memory.
By idea in good video editor memory transfers must be minimized. Decompression->MM->GPU, most of heavy transfers must be inside GPU GDDR5 or GDDR6 memory
Just to get you idea - DDR4 4ch Threadripper is 56-80GB/s depending on memory speed.
And GTX 1080 Ti is 484GB/sec (2080 Ti is 616GB/s).
So filters and scaling to output res must reside on GPU.
One of present issues is that outside Edius almost no one try to optimize stuff and have people for this long work.
