The IEA has unveiled a ten-point action plan it hopes Western countries will implement to curtail oil demand.
“Eating less meat is also a contribution to the fight against Putin.”
So told the Germans Cem Ozdemir, Minister of Agriculture of Germany, a representative of the greens and - here's a coincidence - a vegetarian.
In addition, Ozdemir called for a reduction in food prices. He criticizes proposals to lower gasoline prices and the global focus on fuel rather than a potential food crisis:
“Not everyone has a car... But everyone needs food. Everyone depends on it."
However, according to the minister, first of all, a food strike threatens Africa and Asia. There will simply be nothing to eat there.
Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki today proposed to the EU to introduce a complete ban on trade with Russia.
Chinese sources said the price of neon gas has risen almost ninefold in the past three weeks, from 1,850 yuan to 16,000 yuan ($2,500) per cubic meter. The rise in price is due to the situation in Ukraine, which produced 45-54% of the world volume of neon. Since February 24, all this volume has become unavailable after the shutdown of factories in Mariupol and Odessa, which caused an increase in prices on the world market. Now neon is produced only in China and Russia.
Chip manufacturers have stock of only 2-3 months and one month is already almost gone.
Neon is used in excimer lasers in photolithographic installations (scanners) as a consumable material. Without this gas, it is simply impossible to organize the production of semiconductors. To continue working, gas will have to be bought at any price.
I see extreme panic posts in Taiwanese media, as China and Russia already started to discuss terms of new neon supplies.
TSMC can be forced to start production of Russian and Huawei chips again. Or stop totally.
A working meeting between the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia Maxim Shaskolsky and the founder and CEO of the Russian online retailer Wildberries Tatyana Bakalchuk took place at the agency’s site. A number of issues were discussed at the meeting, including the topic of legalization of parallel imports in Russia.
“The legalization of parallel imports in the current environment will help increase the number of business entities importing goods to Russia. This will make it possible to saturate the domestic market with goods that consumers need,” said Maxim Shaskolsky, head of the FAS Russia.
He also noted that the agency consistently supports the implementation of this measure and at present the FAS Russia has sent a relevant draft resolution to the Government.
The department believes that parallel imports will solve the problems of price, quality and assortment discrimination by right holders against Russian consumers, as well as manifestations of various forms of unfair competition on the part of official distributors of goods against importers.
“The FAS initiative to allow parallel imports will become an effective measure to support both Russian consumers and entrepreneurs. Small and medium-sized businesses will be able to legally import foreign goods without additional permits, and consumers will have access to a wider range of high-quality goods at reasonable prices. This is especially important for socially important goods such as medicines, food and children's products,” said Tatyana Bakalchuk.
Representatives of the FAS Russia noted that after the adoption of the resolution, the agency will hold a series of working meetings with the main Russian marketplaces and the business community.

The University of Florida has removed Communist Manifesto author Karl Marx – whom the university has called a “philosopher, radical economist and revolutionary critic” – from the name of a study room in the library. Incredibly, the school claims the decision is based on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The University of Florida told The National Desk that given the current events in Ukraine and elsewhere in the world it determined it was appropriate to remove Karl Marx's name, which was placed on the group study room in 2014..
