I'm not a big fan of addons, but my Zoom ring on my Lumix 35-100 F2.8 started to wear out. As you may know, a zoom ring is usually a big rubber band. You can carefully work it off and replace it or clean it, depending on the lens. A new part was about $25, so I looked around and found the Band.It aftermarket zoom rings for the same price or less. It's big, chunky, easy to turn and very grippy. A quality product. It isn't streamlined, but the grip is much easier than the stock band.

Test of CN-R640 LED Ring Light

Here's a quick test of this Ring Light. It came up cheap on e-bay then disappeared, I tracked down a UK supplier that apparently had a six week wait. It arrived in four days!

I've been having a idea about an interface's POV, in that you see characters from behind the interface, so that formed the based of this test:

It took more time to set up than shoot (about 2 hours). In this test the Ring Light is set to 50% brightness and the white balance is set at 5600K. I believe its going to be a pretty useful addition to my lighting and the only downside it that I can't find a suitable soft bag to protect it in transit.

The music was assembled from kits from Big Fish Audio.

My mattebox is mounted to a rod system with a sliding base from LockCircle, so lenses that extend when focusing or zooming are not a problem (the mattebox slides on the rods). But lenses with rotating fronts still pose a problem and I'm trying to find a some kind of anti-friction or bearing-based intermediary ring to put between the matte box and the lens's filter thread.

Before anyone suggests it, I know that I could remove the glass from a circular polarizer and use that, but I don't think that it would be smooth enough. I'd like to see if there is anything that is specifically designed for this.

Tokina 11-16mm Focus Ring jams?

I've got the old Tokina 11-16mn "DX" version (silver markings) and just bought a new DX II version (gold).

On the new one, the focus ring gets frequently stuck when pulling it to MF, I'd say about 1/8 times. It basically sometimes doesn't pull down all the way in one place, and then locks the whole mechanism (AF motor isn't disengaged). If you then try to turn it, it fights the AF motor. That never happens on my old DX version, but I'm on my 2nd DX II with the same problem.

Is that normal for the DX IIs or have I got 2 duff ones in a row?

Will this Adorama step up ring work on Slr magic 12mm?

When I bought my 12mm Magic SLR lens from Adorama it recommended this step up ring:

I need the measurement for focus rings diameter on 25mm and 17.5mm ? I'm about to order some custom ring gears, have not exact measures. From documentation is the diameter: 63.4mm but I'm not sure if this includes a focus ring diameter ? Any help is welcome, thank you.
