GH2 dead after using 14-42 power zoom

Hello everyone!, i dont know if i lost the camera forever or if i can do something to fix it, let´s see if someone has an idea about this problem

i was using the 14-42 lumix x power zoom, and i wanted to change the lens so i turned off the gh2, waited for the lens to shrink, then i take the lens off the camera body, but the thing is that i then realized that i didn´t wait for the camera to completely turn off before removing the lens, the green LED was on when i deattached the lens off the camera

after i did this, the camera just died, it doesnt turn ON by any means, i tried with different batteries, with completely charged batteries, with ac power, nothing

any ideas? :P

Samyang 16mm t2.2 cinelens

All shots were done with the Samyang (Rokinon) 16MM cine lens used on a G6. Great lens, little distortion, sharp with good contrast. This lens comes to life as most do around F4-8, but can be pushed either way and still produce a nice image. If your a m4/3rds shooter, I would go for it in that mount to do away with an adapter due to the size. This lens is smooth with a follow focus, although for this vid, I shot it stock, focus was all done in hand.

GH3 Data rate and colour management compression

Hi all,

I am confused about the 50mbps / 72mbps date rate that the GH3 supposedly records at.

My footage, recorded as H264 MOV files in either of these high bit rates, is listed in FCP as between 5.8mbps and 8.5mbps. Analysing the footage with cinema tools reveals the same data rate - not the 50 / 72 it should be.

If I convert the files to ProRes I get the higher data rates - around 30 - 60mbps. Although this is closer, and sometimes in excess of the data rate I want, am I not merely up-resing the footage? The new date rate might be higher, but if it is not what the camera recorded, the information isn't t there.

I am also confused about the colour management. My h264 footage has a colour profile of 1-1-1. Is that the best I can get? I read somewhere that the GH3 will record 2-4-1. How do I set that?

Again up-resing to prores 422 or 444 will not introduce colours that are not recorded in the first place!

I look forward to hearing people's thoughts.

NEX (5N, 6, 7, A6000, A3000, A5000, etc) with the SEL 35mm f1.8 or Lumix GX7/GM1 with the PanaLeica 25mm f1.4

Although this forum is focused mostly in the video, my question is for still photography, but equally valid for the video. I love make street photo and usually I do night street photos with my NEX-5N accompanied by Sigma 30mm f2.8 and Zuiko 50mm f1.4 with ambient light and I doubt as the new sensor of Panasonic with the PanaLeica lens.

And I would think in this exercise, both cameras at ISO 1,600, 3,200 and 6,400 at the street in the night, both lens at full aperture, the PanaLeica is faster, but the Sony sensor is larger and has theoretically advantage. but the new sensor of Panasonic seems has cut the distance respect to the NEX.

Cranking frame rate on GH3

So I finally broke down and got myself a GH3. Could almost not be happier with the ol' GH2, but the one thing I was missing was the higher frame rate for 1080p. Thing is, I bought the new camera in Sweden, and default settings do not include 60fps in either of the modes, only 50fps, I think. 50 is fine I guess, but it bugs me that I lack the slightly faster setting. Switching output from PAL to NTSC seemingly does not do the trick, and neither does updating firmware to the official "GH3__V12.exe" from Panasonic. Am I missing something or am I screwed? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I want to use my Kindle Fire HDX as an external camera control and monitor for my GH3 using Lumix Link. The only way to do it is to sideload the Lumix Link apk file, but I cannot find that anywhere. I even have Lumix Link installed on my cell phone and can't find the apk file there. Mysterious. There are a few links that I can find on Google, but they always refer me to the Google Play store and the only option there is to install the program. Kindle doesn't even connect to Play Store, so that doesn't help me.

Does anyone know of a link to the Lumix Link apk file please?

Is anyone planning to hack the DMC-G6 in the next months???

Test filming in HBR mode (1080p25) with very safe "hack" at 33 mbts.

First use of a voigtlander nokton 50mm 1.1. that I've just received. Great lense ! All manual control.

I thought this would be funny to shoot. And a much more interesting subject for the test than the usual garden tree... :)

Export with Clipwrap. Edited in FCP7 with no color correction.

I have my Lumix G6 body for sale. It came in a kit with the 14-140mm lens but I'm not selling the lens. There are also two third party batteries and charger. The camera was bought as a back up for a trip in October but I received my E-M1 in time before I left so it never got used. It was bought in October this year from UK Digital.

I'm in the north east of Scotland if anyone wants to pick it up or I can post to the UK or possibly Western Europe at cost. I'm new on here but I have a 250+ 100% record on eBay. I probably won't be able to dispatch this till after Christmas.

Is anyone working on hacking the Lumix-G6?

Howdy. Worked on a shoot in the Grand Canyon for a bit with my GH3 and "kit lens". Body did great lens got a bit sandy. Everything works as it should internally but the focus ring now has less than desirable "action". Am I crazy for wanting to try and fix this myself? If not, anyone got a line on an exploded diagram of this lens? Thanks.

I just sold my GH2 and I am going to have about $1500 or so to spend on a camera. I don't need it until early October. I will be using it for a feature length movie. My Options:

1- Two Lumix G6 cameras Now.

2- GH3 now

3- Lumix G6 + Better glass

Things to Ponder:

Numerous shorts, First Feature. Easier is better for me at this point.
Two G6 cameras will let me shoot scenes a heck of a lot faster.
I do most of the visual editing, color correction, color grading (I am okay, but far from great.)
I will be lighting for the look I want
I will be putting this in a few theaters myself and maybe a couple small festivals.
I have a pretty good sound guy, so that side is covered.

I am working on bettering my skills between now and October. Every day I am working with footage and studying. Still, I know this will be a challenge. What do you guys think will work best for my needs?

Hey guys, I wanted to show you guys how the Wooden Cage works with the GH3, I did forget to point out 2 important features on the cage because I wont be using them, one is the fact that it comes with a small plate that can help prevent your camera from slipping if you use a follow focus and the 2nd one is that you can also use the hotshoe as another point to tighten or secure the camera. In this post http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7535/gh3-loose-hot-shoe-pictures#Item_1 I show the reason I had to get a cage, and how weak the GH3 hot shoe is, I hope this video helps someone else to make a decision on whether to get this cage or not. Purchased about 1 ½ years ago new at Adorama NYC and used on a couple of short projects as B-cam. Low hours/usage and never dropped or scratched (body or lcd). NEVER HACKED. Latest Panasonic firmware installed.
