Xiaomi Mi Desktop Monitor 27" user review

An exceptional price/quality ratio PC screen!

4 important specifications cached my attention:

IPS screen with wide viewing angle
100% sRGB color gamut spectrum coverage
Flicker free
Blue light filter

Out of the box the screen came well calibrated, with a small Delta-E variation of color. After a manual calibration, it approaches perfection (except for the typical brighter black of IPS screens).

The "Flicker Free" and "Blue Light Filter" functions are very important for the eyes, especially for long working periods of time in front of the computer. I did not encounter problems related to ghosting or clouding, the image uniformity of my sample being impeccable. It doesn’t make much sense to comment much about IPS technology, whoever is interested in image editing, knows why to choose an IPS screen in favor of other technologies on the market.

The screen is elegant, with thin edges on the side and top and the construction is made of good quality plastic. The foot is made of metal and offers an inclination from -5 to 20 degrees.

In conclusion, for my needs (image editing) it’s an excellent screen at a very decent price. I recommend it with confidence!

Hi,

I'm saving up for a G85, and with that I'm looking for a new 4k screen.

The screen is going to be used as a monitor for my pc. I like to have 40" +.

My priorities are:

viewing angle
colour accuracy
NON flickering when set to low brightness
latency
HDR ready

My budget hovers about € 700.

Any recommendations?

USB powered 13"+ Monitors with HDMI! GeChic On Lap Monitors $140

Looking here and there to see if there are any new cheap field monitors, I am always dissapointed when I see USB powered monitors, get excited, and find out they also ONLY do video through USB. After searching for a different solution to try and get a monitor stand so I could put a monitor on my lap(don't ask), I found this:

$400 IPS, does full 1080p touchscreen, and is powered by USB with HDMI and VGA. It's currently sold out though, but the 13" model is in stock and on sale $138 with today as the last day for that price. You can find similar models on ebay for around $210. LG’s Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching (IPS) LCD display could be powering the next generation of “superphones” from a number of handset makers. LG has recently received props about its color accuracy from Intertek, a company that specializes in certifying the quality of various technologies and products.

I’m not familiar with Intertek’s tests, but according to LG, their conclusion pretty much says what we already knew: just like IPS, AH-IPS, has a better color accuracy than its arch-rival AMOLED, which is a Samsung technology.LG will also be quick to point out that IPS consumes the same power regardless of whether or not, it is displaying a bright or dark image. AMOLED power consumption fluctuates depending of the nature of the content, but LG’s point was that in the worst case scenario, AH-IPS still beats AMOLED in power consumption. Although we have not run these tests ourselves, I’ve brought this up a few times with Samsung, and no-one has ever contested LG’s claim.
