Matte boxes for use on a steadicam https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5971/matte-boxes-for-use-on-a-steadicam Thu, 31 Jan 2013 18:13:05 +0000 kronstadt 5971@/talks/discussions What kind of matte box solution have you got for situations when your GH2 is on a steadicam stabilizer?

When using a camera stabiliser (steadicam, glidecam etc) it's very unlikely that you are going to put the whole rig on with rod holder, rods, FF, MB etc --that's just too heavy, unless, of course, you have a steadicam vest - and most people here don't. Plus, there is the practical irrelevance of using a FF while the camera is on a stedicam (unless of course, you have a separate focus puller person who is using a remotely operated FF - most people here don't).

So the solution is often to take your naked GH2 and place it on the steadicam just as it is. The problem then are the flares. So I thought of getting one of those rubber lens shades that can be easily stuck to the lens, but the problem with those is that they are not always catered for wide angle lenses.

My question: have you ever seen a rubber lens shade that could be attached directly to the lens, but at the same time have collapsible increments like this?

SLR Magic 12mm - MUST.HAVE.HOOD! https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3887/slr-magic-12mm-must.have.hood Fri, 13 Jul 2012 01:46:29 +0000 jdert 3887@/talks/discussions Desperately seeking advice for a hood option for this lens. Searches yield no results, other than I need a 58-77mm step up ring to do this without vignetting. I can't be alone in this issue! I am constantly battling flares and lighting artifacts whenever the sun hits it. This is my glidecam lens and its becoming very problematic to shoot with. For instance, my T2i glidecam setup had a 17-50mm and has zero issues with flares. Is this more than a hood issue, could it be a lens coating issue?

Bellows Hoods are Back in Style - 90 minute conversion project https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3448/bellows-hoods-are-back-in-style-90-minute-conversion-project Sat, 02 Jun 2012 04:13:16 +0000 Roberto 3448@/talks/discussions Spurred on by Black Magic Design having presented their new camera sporting bellows, I've finally got around to modifying my Hasselblad bellows mattebox into a hood. Since I used the rear filter slot as a mount, it no longer qualifies as a matte box - but the original is left totally intact and conversion is reversible.

Shown extended to FOV of Panasonic 14mm pancake; will fast-adjust to any focal length.

Next, upper French flag and front letterbox matte. I'm hoping it will be seriously dark in there!

My bellows cost $50. See similar on eBay

Sun hood for monitor, ideas? https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1197/sun-hood-for-monitor-ideas Sun, 16 Oct 2011 17:28:01 +0000 fatpig 1197@/talks/discussions It had a sun hood, and i thought i could make one of my own, for the cheap 10" hdmi monitor recommended by vitaliy.

My Question is: Does anyone have an idea, which material best to make the sides of? The tv logic ones have something like nylon-wrapped cardboard/plastic on the sides and top. thanks :)]]>
