Recently me and my associates made a short documentary film about a typical Brazilian fruit. We shot it with two GH2 and a Gopro Hero 3. I love the image quality produced by the GH2, and there were no need to use a lot of color correction for the end result. I love the look of the film, and I hope you guys enjoy it.

Hey all -

Figured I'd share this with the GH2 interested community. Inspired by a post-holiday party hangover brunch, a friend and I called a few actor friends and shot this short in a single day. With one camera, one lens, a monopod, and no lighting except for the final night scene.

A warped retelling of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, in which a scumbag loan-shark learns the true meaning of Christmas. Barely.

I am new to the GH2 and the patches. It appears to be a lot of scattered info that is difficult pull together. So any help is greatly appreciated.

Here is my question... Which combination of SD card and patch work reliably together?

Here is my shooting scenario...

It will be mostly indoors (bar, bedroom), low light. I am using a Rokkor 1.4 50mm lense. We will use Adobe everything, on a Mac, for post.

The other big factor is that it will be screened in a theater. So quality is very important.

Thanks again as this camera is new thing for me and any advice is very welcome.

Hi, I'm a photographer and just bought a GH2 to practice my video skills. I previously did a couple of jobs as a dop using a 5Diii, a black magic and a C300 and what I'm looking at to get from the GH2 is the maximum quality. I don't need to shoot lengthy segments but I need the best image (especially in dark environment). I know I probably will never get the quality of a ML 5Diii, C300 or BMCC but this is for practice and personal projects. Could anyone suggest a few hacks?

Hello all, as, looking to a multiple number of posts, I haven't found an answer, I look for an answer.
Meaning, technically, what would take to have the gh2 encoding in AVCHDintra 10bit?
Does the camera lack of processor juice? Is it too complex programming wise? All of these combined? Developers need more supports?
And please no aswer like "Ask Santa for next Christmas" or similar.

My girlfriend fundraised for Alzheimer's Research UK and did a 450km, 10 day cycle challenge from the North to the South of Vietnam.

It was filmed on the Panasonic GH2 with Olympus Zuiko 45mm f/1.8 and Panasonic 20mm f/1.7....also a GoPro HD.

Hope you enjoy the adventure.

50mm 1:1.2 Fujinon lens (AX Fujica mount) on Panny GH1... it's possible.

Warning:

1) Don't try it at home unless you know what you are doing.
2) The base for that hack is the Kiwi MFT <--> AX adapter. Except that it does not work, mine does (after the little modding).
3) This is REAL 1:1.2 lens, not the... Tomioka which is only NOMINALLY 1:1.2 (did you notice that the back of Tommy Miau Oka is manually cut?)
4) Did not try it yet against the wal texture, just did it today. Actually, my car mechanic did it.

JVC GZ-HM430 60P 28mbps hack possible?

I have a JVC GZ-HM430 camcorder that record at 1920x1080, 50i (PAL), 24mbps, AVCHD format. It is possible to change the specs to record at 50P at 28mbps (or at even 36mbps...)? I ask because i knew a software named Ptool, for panasonic camcorders, that enable users to change specs of their camcorders. But any other solutions are good for me, including opening the camcorder, serial programming, etc... Thanks in advance.

Just put together this video for a friend of mine's website. It was all shot a few months ago in Iceland with the Moon V.5 hack. Couldn't have been happier with that path, and it allowed for some seriously stylized color grading. Hope you enjoy.

GH2 720p50/60 and 1080i60 Settings

It's time for SANITY!

While great work has been done with the GH2 hack for improving the 24P picture, I've been dissatisfied with the quality of the 50/60P and 60i patches. The biggest problem is mud in the shadows, and that has been the focus of my work - to minimize it.

So, may I present 'SANITY' - the patch that DOES IT ALL, and at reasonable bitrates. 'SANITY' produces the best 50 and 60 fps pictures you've ever seen from the GH2! Plus a sane 24P setting that isn't going to bust the bank - bkmcwd's superb 66M GOP12.

"SANITY' is the patch I load into my camera and go out shooting, and don't worry about it anymore. And I bring back great looking footage no matter what mode I shoot in.

'SANITY' has exceptionally clean 720 50/60P and 1080 60i. And of course, 24P.
(however, I can't guarantee 1080i 50 because it's settings are tied to 24P)

For those interested, the key to increasing the quality of 50 and 60 fps, is to use a larger GOP than the stock setting.

1080 60i - GOP 18
720 60P - GOP 39
720 50P - GOP 30

When you do this, all the stars align and good things happen.

So, load it up and get a taste of 'SANITY'!

NOTE: Only use FSH/SH mode for SANITY. Do not use FH/H.

I'll mostly be shooting in my basement with some lighting, but will shoot outside a bit as well.

Crashed Panasonic GH3 and 8mm fisheye... sold for repairing elements?

Well, it's hard to write this, but I bought a GH3 three months ago and last weekend as I was filming some landscape timelapse in Valle del Jerte (so beautiful) the camera drop from a second floor as I was approaching to stop the timelapse after 12 minutes filming with no problem (damn wind, 2000 € flying!!!) and smashed against a rock. As it's seen in the photo the camera it's not very damaged as I could expect (it was al in one piece) but obviously it doesn't turn on and I don't know what to do with it: - send it to Panasonic? don't know how much money could be and never heard about an experience like this, how long could they take to repair it or whether it is worth... - or maybe sell it as a repairing elements kit for other cameras...

And now I need a new camera as my job depends on it, but a lot of doubts come to me: - buy another GH3 as there's nothing still on hacking it? - a hacked GH2 as I wait for the new upcoming GH5? Have someone any truthful news on thew GH5 or a soon hack for the GH3?

Was my GH2 PCB broken by hacking?

After trying everything I could, I still could not get the camera to play back. I sent it in to Panasonic Service Center as it was still under warranty. They repaired it by replacing the PCB free of charge.

So, was this a side effect of hacking? I did accidentally let the battery run out whilst recording, so maybe it could be that?

Please, no fanboy comments as I am not criticizing the GH2, the hack, or patch. I actually like this camera and am trying to get to the bottom of this so it doesn't happen again.

Schneider Super Cinelux Anamorphic

Anyone have one of these?.

The coarse focus is done on the Cinelux via a thumb screw at the front but the fine focus is done on the imaging lens attached to the rear so there are two focus controls to worry about.

I am interested in a modification, but first I have some questions

1 have you taken one apart? - if so please post pictures

2 the focus range is 3m - INF, via a small knob - how many full turns to go from near to far?

3 is the focus low torque or high (stiff), could it take a pinion gear for gearing or servo/stepper?

I see lot of post about Mjpeg vs avchd, the majority of people say avchd better than Mjpeg. But today I'm not sure...

I was making a shot test between 24h/HBR/Mjpeg with "Driftwood Cluster X series 3:│moon T7" The scene is very contrasted with highlights and black.

I prefer Mjpeg...!!! Because the noise is the same and I see more details and more sharpen.

I want know if somebody testing Mjpeg and say the same thing.

25p and 2K possible? with the option Mpjeg fps of ptools?

The time limite?

Mjpeg in 2K 25p no limited time, It 's dream for me.

Movie shot on GH2 hacked

So, after shooting a few music videos I've decided to take a big step and shoot an entire feature film on a Gh2 hack (150mbit/s). I was very scared to do so since it was the only camera i had and couldn't afford a backup camera in case the camera dies. But I must say we had no problems with it. The footage was converted to Apple Pro Res 422 HQ on 5DtoRGB Batch. Edited on FCP 7 on my old Macbook Pro (2008 2.4 Ghz Intel core 2 duo 4gigs. I would not recommend using this computer..it's old and slow, but all i had). I'm pretty happy with the results. I can't wait to get my hands on the GH3. Hopefully movie makes money and I can buy 2 of them!! haha. Anyways, guys.. check it out and let me know what you think. Here's the teaser trailer.

Should I install newer firmware before hack?

I bought my camera in December of 2010 and have the original firmware on it still, body firmware v 1.0, and lens firmware 1.1. Do i need to install the newer firmware first, and then the hack? Or can I just do it from where I am with the original firmware?

GH2 post production -Premiere Pro CS6

Pertaining to post production with the GH2 - Using slipstream 3 moon hack. As I attempt to bring in footage to Premier Pro CS6 the playback is hicuppy at best, starting with the audio cutting out. Would anyone have any workable preference for this situation. The media files all natively save to a private folder in which I transferred to my HDD. From there I took the footage into Premier. I began with opening the files, then after the hiccups, I decided to import, still same problems occur. Also using Dynamic Link, do you have to import all used media files to each different program?

Windows 8 Intel Corei7-3630QM Geforce GTX 680M / 4GB GDDR5 12GB RAM DDRIIII 750GB 7200RPM

hence, should have no problem running any of these programs in cohesion.

GH_2 PTools problem

I am new to this whole process. I have modded only on PC's, never camera's. I have downloaded PTools as prompted. I have also tried several different settings redshift_v4, moon, apocolypse now, just to see if I could get to work. ptools doesn't recognize any of the files for uploading. The only one it does recognize is the -V103 which is supposed to emulate the original firmware. Please help! I think the Sanity 5 patch I bought the GH2 with is corrupted, because In video mode it's stuck in automatic. I can't change the ISO, or anything. Very strange. I find the GH2's firmware rather shoddy to begin with. If there are any really good firmware updates that you would recommend after the ptools issue is fixed, I would very much appreciate that as well.
