You end up with 1152 total CUDA cores and 96 texture units. GK104’s back-end remains intact though, consisting of four ROP clusters that output eight 32-bit integer pixels per clock each, maxing out at 32. Similarly, four 64-bit memory controllers create a 256-bit aggregate interface.

At least at first, GeForce GTX 760s will sport 2 GB of GDDR5 memory operating at 1502 MHz, just like the GeForce GTX 670 and 680, pushing up to 192.2 GB/s. This is probably the 760's biggest advantage against GeForce GTX 660 Ti. A 192-bit memory bus limits that card's bandwidth to 144.2 GB/s, which hurts at higher resolutions with anti-aliasing cranked up.

GeForce GTX 760 also compensates for a less-complex GPU configuration through higher core clock rates. Its GK104 runs at 980 MHz (base), but is rated for a GPU Boost clock rate of 1033 MHz. That’s more aggressive than GeForce GTX 660 Ti and 670, both armed with 1344-shader incarnations of GK104 set at a 915 MHz base frequency. What you're going to see in the benchmarks is that some workloads tend to favor shader count, others react to the GPU's clock rate, and a third group enjoys memory bandwidth.

How to upload my camera shoots successfully without formatting? https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8186/how-to-upload-my-camera-shoots-successfully-without-formatting- Sat, 21 Sep 2013 21:30:17 +0000 Cory46463 8186@/talks/discussions Hi guys, Recently, I did some shoots with my Canon camera. However, as I attempted to upload all these shoots to my computer, I was always warned and asked to format it at first. I have used this camera many times and never encountered these similar problems before. Do you know what is going on there? Do you know how to upload my shoots successfully? Should I have to format this camera at first? Help me, please!

Is there something wrong with my GH2? https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7687/is-there-something-wrong-with-my-gh2 Sun, 04 Aug 2013 23:23:33 +0000 apauloh 7687@/talks/discussions So I just bought a gh2 off ebay. Bought a 32gb class 10 sd card to accompany it. I uploaded a hack and it works I think. The thing is that pretty often, I am asked to reintall the 1.1 firmware page for the hack? So when I check my photos, it asks. When I turn off my camera and turn it back off, it asks. Is this normal or is something wrong with the internal firmware of the gh2?

Trouble copying SD Card to Computer, but can play the file directly from the SD Card no problem. https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7474/trouble-copying-sd-card-to-computer-but-can-play-the-file-directly-from-the-sd-card-no-problem. Tue, 09 Jul 2013 16:38:15 +0000 eddietor 7474@/talks/discussions I used GH2 Driftwood hack Cluster X Drewnet 12-15 Classic GOP. I was using a class 10 64 gb card. I only used one file for like 20 minutes. It stopped recording and said I have exceeded the files able to record or something. So in a quick panic I switched to a 32gb sd card that was not class 10. It recorded fine for the few minutes I needed to finish the interview with my subject. But then it said, "cannot write to card due to writing speed of card." (I'm paraphrasing). Anyway the record button kept flashing and no matter what I did it wouldn't stop writing to the card. I waited a few minutes and nothing changed so I pulled the battery out. I went to my PC Windows 7 computer and inserted the card. It plays back just fine but it won't let me pause or rewind. I saw the video it looks great, but my computer will not allow me to copy it to my computer. The error message I get says, "An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue to receive this error, use the error code to search for help with this problem" Error Code: 0x80070570: The file directory is corrupted and unreadable" I tried to see if I could put the file in Adobe Premiere CC. The reason is I was going to try to export it as a new video but the import process alone caused the whole computer to freeze. It's a desktop and very fast.

Any ideas of how to get my file off of the sd card? I'm scared to remove the sd card from the reader attached to my computer. (WRITTEN ON TUES. JULY 9, 2013 at 4:37pm Eastern Standard Time, U.S.)

anyone recomend me a way to improve my macbook pro for editing https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6517/anyone-recomend-me-a-way-to-improve-my-macbook-pro-for-editing Wed, 27 Mar 2013 11:34:04 +0000 jakepowell 6517@/talks/discussions hi, was wondering if anyone could recommend me some equipment and computer parts (external graphics cards etc) in order to speed up my current editing system. im afraid im a student so spending loads on equipment is a no go, (do not tell me i need a new £5000 desktop etc as this is not practical for me) i want to add bits bit by bit as i can afford them to improve my system gradually .

i currently own a macbook pro 15" 2011 edition with: 2.2ghz i7 , 4gb 1333 ddr3 ram , AMD radeon 6750m 512mb graphics card, 500GB TOSHIBA MK5065GSXF sata hard drive.

how can i speed this system up? i am looking at getting 16gb of ram (which this series of macbook pro accepts) and a solid state hard drive of some sort with fast read write speeds i presume?

is there anything i can do on the graphics card front to speed up programs like premier , speed grade, after effects and davinci resolve lite? (i know i cant change mine as its solderd in but can i plug an external one into my system?

also my max resolution on this screen is 1440x900 - not large enough for davinci can someone tell me if there is a way to get an external moniter running from my macbook with high enough resolution to work on davinci? how do i do this?

im running lion 10.7.5 by the way.

ps sorry vitally i know this thread is a bit of a mess , but i simply do not understand computers enough to be able to find the information i need.

thanks in advance everyone

Turning GeForce GTX 690 into Quadro K5000 and Tesla K10, must work for other cards https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6446/turning-geforce-gtx-690-into-quadro-k5000-and-tesla-k10-must-work-for-other-cards Wed, 20 Mar 2013 06:16:29 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 6446@/talks/discussions

When you buy GeForce GTX 690, the most expensive dual-gpu graphics NVIDIA has in their offer, you expect the best performance and every feature enabled. Well this is actually true, however it does not support the same technology as it’s professional counterpart Quadro K5000.

If the GeForce could be modified into Quadro, you would save $1000. A member of the EEV Forums did just that, because his GeForce GTX 690 would support NVIDIA Surround (multi-monitor technology) in Windows, but it would not support Mosaic in Linux, which is exclusive technology for Quadro series. What is worth noting is the fact that NVIDIA Quadro K5000 is a single-gpu card, clocked lower than 690.

In order to understand how this modification works, we have to bring up few facts. In the past it was actually very easy to modify GeForce cards into Quadro (and opposite), by changing the hardware straps on the board. These straps control the PCI Device ID, which carries the information what card is connected to the slot. So if you knew the codes for each card, you could manipulate them to emulate specific model of the card. However NVIDIA changed the way to control the ID. To change it on the GTX 690 it requires some modification to the board itself. By changing the analogue values of certain components we can manipulate the ID. The modder gave us a whole list of values corresponding to specific codes:

  • 5K = 8
  • 10K = 9
  • 15K = A
  • 20K = B
  • 25K = C
  • 30K = D
  • 35K = E
  • 40K = F

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690 has an ID of 0×1188, while Quadro K5000 has 0x11BA and Tesla K10 0x118F. Long story short, it equates to 20K and 15K resistors to be enabled in order to change 690 into K5000, whereas it requires 5K and 40K resistors to transform it to Tesla K10. And that’s it.

Other users suggest that the same way can be applied to GeForce GTX 660Ti/670 to transform them into 680.

People are reporting write increases of ~20%, but this is tested on a PC and maybe that won't translate to cameras. Worth comparing with their in-built formatting though, might help with marginal card/hack combinations.

Does anyone have suggestions for a 2nd card like this? I imagine that others are going to be in a similar situation to me so hopefully this question helps others. Thanks!

Recover files from card with error https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3537/recover-files-from-card-with-error Sun, 10 Jun 2012 22:15:49 +0000 charlie_orozco 3537@/talks/discussions Hi. I come to you to ask for help, because I feel very frustrated. I have two Sandisk Extreme 32GB 45MBps SDHC cards, and today I was trying to copy the video files of a shoot I had yesterday, and the card started disconnecting quite often (it was plugged into an external card reader). With various retryings I was able to copy only 6 out of 25 (11GB in total) before the card threw me an error message saying that the card needed formatting. I then got tired and decided to copy the files using the camera, but when I turned it on it told me that the camera needed formatting as well. This never happened to me. I became a little desperate and downloaded the program that the card comes from (it's a one year license code that allows you to download and use RescuePRO Deluxe). I used the program and it recoverd 15,000 M2TS video files, all of them a single frame for only the first two videos (or so it seemed) that weighed almost 30GB. I then formatted the card using the camera and tried again. I formatted many times (it's been 4 or 5 hours now) and the best I could get were the full first two videos, almost by chance, and the ones that matter are the 3 last ones... Now the program shows an error saying that it couldn't recover any files because maybe the formatting added 0 (zeros) instead of the old data, and so it may be lost. But when I try again it recovers more files. Although now they can't be read. Is it getting worse eveytime? Is there no way to recover the files? Can you recommend another program that could work for me? I need this data by the end of the week when the job is due, and I feel desperate. It's kind of a documentary, so I can't shoot this footage for a second time... If you can help me I'll be truly thankful. Best regards.

1. Get the fastest sd-card wich present at this moment.

2. Make firmware.
In ptool enter this settigs
E1 Quality=200
E1 Table=4
E2 Quality=200
E2 Table=4
E3 Quality=200
E3 Table=4
E4 Quality=200
E4 Table=4

3. Shoot
Of course choose on your camera 720p MJPEG mode.
Then try to shoot, if record time is > 15 sec, that mean it's ok (this is my guess), note what bitrate you have got
Shoot every time same scene!

After, enter this settings (Every Quality setting is higher by 100)
E1 Quality=300
E1 Table=4
E2 Quality=300
E2 Table=4
E3 Quality=300
E3 Table=4
E4 Quality=300
E4 Table=4
Try to shoot, if record time is > 15 sec, it's ok, note what bitrate you have got

Repeat this until the errors start to happen, after you should take last successful settings, and start new tests, but now you should test with litle steps, let plus every Quality settings in every step by 10, for exemple:
You have got successful settings
E1 Quality=600
E1 Table=4
E2 Quality=600
E2 Table=4
E3 Quality=600
E3 Table=4
E4 Quality=600
E4 Table=4
And you further actions:
E1 Quality=610
E1 Table=4
E2 Quality=610
E2 Table=4
E3 Quality=610
E3 Table=4
E4 Quality=610
E4 Table=4
Do it untill the errors start to happen

interesting thing for us/settings GH2, for example SDHC667 (667x) but minimum 16MB/s so min. 16x8=128Mbit/s !!! for now already on the market and selling on xstra.eu see link below: "Pretec 16GB SDHC Card 567x Class 16" for €45,55 and there is 32GB version of this SDHC. BUT also on pretec the website there is SDXC 64GB, the cards all Class16, AND NOT the older versions (class10, 6, 4 etc.), here are the links:

http://www.pretec.com/news-event/press-room/item/press-room/worlds-fastest-cf-and-sd-cards-from-pretec http://ultimatephotographyguide.co.uk/pretec-announce-worlds-fastest-compact-flash-and-sd-cards/ http://www.ephotozine.com/article/pretec-announce-world-s-fastest-compact-flash-and-sd-cards-18707 http://www.pretec.com/products/memory-cards/sd-card

The minimum thing of Class16 means minimal trasfer speed of 128Mbit/s maybe this can help us the minimum limit (on the lower side) is 128Mbit/s AND up to it's higher limits (specifiation of Pretec).

Now we can do guaranteed minimum of 128Mbit/s ??!! Sounds good, BUT the also the "64GB SDXC 567x" and the upcoming "16GB SDHC667 667x". Maybe helpfull for "GH2-settings" and data is not lost when power is down!!!

Speeding up your SD card (the unexpected way) https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2134/speeding-up-your-sd-card-the-unexpected-way Sat, 28 Jan 2012 21:42:01 +0000 duartix 2134@/talks/discussions Short story: My SD Card got a speed upgrade from stock and it cost me NOTHING!

Long story:

Bought a Samsung SD 16gb Plus Class 10 (this kind: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-16GB-Class-Extreme-Speed/dp/B00569J5JC/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1327802435&sr=8-5)

First thing I did was format it at 32K and 64K clusters for optimal speed and benchmark it. Speed gains from 64K were marginal, and IIRC the camera didn't like them and defaulted to 32K if I formatted in camera.

Benchmarked the card at almost ~15MB with 16MB files and ~13MB with 8MB files. "Nice!" - I thought, 15MBs is better than Class 10 and since it's 120Mbps it will hold some pretty aggressive patches for a card that costs 20€.

But one day as I was moving FW from my laptop to the card I noticed the transfer speed was way below 10MBs! :( This started a heavy series of benchmarks that were all flawed (basically the problem was that the internal SD reader on the laptop is speed limited) but that had an unexpected development in my struggle to get the benchmark back to the speed I knew it was capable of. In that series of events I used some SSD reasoning "It's flash memory, I should try a Full Format not a Quick Format."

When I returned home and benchmarked the card on the external reader where I originally got almost 15MBs, this is what I got:

I don't know if this will transport to other brands, but I know I'll be doing this every now and then....

While I was camping I got some nice footage and pictures with a 64gig (one of the SDXC ones for future) sd card in a Panasonic GH2.

I'll admit I was a bit stupid in just putting the memory card in, and snapping photos.

Currently the camera is reading the videos and images taken fine, so there would be no damage.

However plugging it into a Windows 7 based machine brings up a forced "please format this card" message. Is there an alternative way to mount it, or otherwise read the data before I properly format it?]]>
GH2 Hack - File Sizes https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1694/gh2-hack-file-sizes Fri, 09 Dec 2011 22:20:12 +0000 wastedthelight 1694@/talks/discussions
I was wondering how much footage a 16GB card would hold (figured I'd be better off getting several 16GB then 32GB and keep copying the data to a laptop during a shoot).

Been looking at the 16GB SanDisk Extreme Pro (45mbs).

I'm guessing this also largely depends on which settings I will end up using. I'd be shooting at 1080p. Seems like 42mbit is popular but I've been seeing a lot of 176mbit popping up lately.

Basically I want to make sure I'm not going to only get like 8mins of footage per 16GB :)]]>

My desktop computer doesn't have USB 3.0 ports. Transfer speed with old Hama USB 2.0 SD card reader was pretty slow.

Test file to transfer: 3,95GB compressed video
SD card: Sandisk Extreme Pro 32GB 45MB/s

USB 2.0
-------
Write: 6min 36seconds
Read: 6min 39seconds

Then I bought this http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150601052134 USB 3.0 reader. Cost only ~18$ including shipping. And for USB 3.0 SD card reader I chose Transcend TS-RDF8K http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220851168839 . Cost ~23$ including shipping.

USB 3.0
-------
Write: 1min 51seconds
Read: 1min 34seconds

I'm happy with the results. Test setup computer's SSD is OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G.]]>
