Info

Step up to EOS camera quality in a simple and easy-to-use package! The EOS M10 camera combines a lightweight, compact design with the power and image quality EOS cameras are known for along with the versatility of interchangeable lenses. Inside is an 18.0 Megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor that’s paired with the DIGIC 6 Image Processor to help capture colorful, detailed videos and photos, even in low-light situations. To help expand creative opportunities, the EOS M10 is compatible with a wide range of compact EF-M lenses specially designed for EOS M series digital cameras, and the extensive range of EF* and EF-S* lenses used with Canon’s DSLR cameras. It also has easy-to-use and automatic settings like the innovative Creative Assist to simplify photo adjustments and help ensure your images are how you want them. Self Portrait mode extends that assistance to help you grab great selfies by adjusting settings that smooth skin tones and artistically blur backgrounds. If it’s too dark for a normal photo, a built-in pop-up flash lights up dark spaces. All these powerful features combine to make the EOS M10 worthy of your attention, while being conveniently wrapped in a slim, stylish camera.

Legendary Image Quality in the Palm of Your Hand

The EOS M10 camera features a lightweight, comfortably designed body that’s easy to hold and take with you. From overseas vacations to backyard family gatherings, the EOS M10’s compact size means it can easily be on hand, without getting in the way. A built-in thumb grip also lets you grasp the body securely, while the rounded edges make holding the camera easier when recording long video clips. All this while still featuring the image quality for which Canon EOS cameras are so well known.

Superb Detail With Minimal Noise

The 18.0 Megapixel CMOS sensor captures lots of detail with very little image noise. The sensor itself is APS-C type, which is the same size as the sensor found in Canon’s EOS Rebel series of cameras. The high resolution means you can crop the image to focus on one section, or have enough detail to print large photos to display or give to your family and friends. An ISO range of 100–12800 (expandable to 25600) lets you capture images on bright sunny beaches and darkened streets.

Fast Focus

Life happens fast, and there’s little worse than missing out on capturing that perfect moment because the camera was too slow to focus. The EOS M10 camera uses Canon’s Hybrid CMOS AF II autofocus system, which measures up to 49 different points in an image quickly and accurately to help get it in focus. In addition, face detection and object tracking help keep the subject of your photo focused, even if they move. What’s more, the EOS M10 is compatible with all EF-M lenses, which feature an AF+MF mode that lets you easily combine the speed of autofocus with the creative flourish possible with manual focus.

Get the Shot You Want, at Any Angle

It’s vital to see if you’ve composed the photo you want. The EOS M10 camera’s 3.0-inch touch screen has 1.04 million pixels, letting you preview images in high detail. It can pivot a full 180°, meaning you can capture a unique dog’s-eye-view of the world or flip the screen up to get that epic selfie.

Superb Moviemaking Made Easy

The EOS M10 camera can capture 1920×1080 Full HD video at frame rates of both 24p and 30p, and can record in MP4 format for easy sharing online.

Moviemaking Made Easy with Manual Movie Control

The EOS M10 camera is a fine moviemaking tool. With touch-activated AF and a number of manual controls available, it’s easy to make intuitive setting adjustments silently and on the fly using the EOS M10’s dials and touch operations.

The Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II raises performance and quality to new heights in a compact, brilliant design. Featuring a huge, 1.5-inch 12.8 Megapixel High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor, a powerful DIGIC 6 Image Processor and an all-new 5x wide-angle optical zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilizer and a circular, 9-blade aperture for stunning blurred backgrounds, the PowerShot G1 X Mark II delivers the outstanding image quality you would expect with a digital SLR camera but in a portable, Wi-Fi and NFC enabled package.

Canon 1.5-inch, 12.8 Megapixel High-Sensitivity CMOS Sensor
Almost as large as the APS-C CMOS sensor found in many EOS digital SLRs, and bigger than those found in 4/3 system cameras, the PowerShot G1 X Mark II's sensor sets the standard for sensitivity and resolving power in compact cameras. Each cell area is 4.5x the size of those found in 1/1.7 type sensors and is thus able to capture more light at the pixel level. This means better detail, even at higher ISOs, with minimal noise and distortion and, thanks to the sensor's wide cell pitch, breathtaking dynamic range. The PowerShot G1 X Mark II camera natively captures images in the 3:2 aspect ratio, which is the same as Canon EOS SLR cameras. The PowerShot G1 X Mark II also features a new Aspect Ratio function, enabling RAW image capturein both 3:2 and 4:3 aspect ratios while maintaining the same angle of view.

Canon U.S.A., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is proud to introduce the superb new Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM ultra wide-angle zoom lens designed to deliver high quality, minimally distorted images throughout the entire zoom range. Featuring the widest angle of view (126º05’ diagonal) ever achieved for a rectilinear full-frame Digital SLR lens*, and a minimum focusing distance of 11 inches (at 24mm), this new lens is ideal for professionals who want the ultimate in creative image expression with sharp, crisp detail whether shooting entire buildings from a close position, entire stadium shots from a high-vantage point, large group photos at a scenic wedding or even astrophotography. Cinematographers will be equally as impressed with the lens’ ability to retain straight lines.

Fully compatible with all EOS cameras, but particularly effective with full-frame cameras such as the new Canon EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R Digital SLR cameras also announced today, this new L-series lens features newly developed optics comprised of 16 elements in 11 groups with a three group zoom system and rear focus. The new optical design utilizes four aspherical lens elements to help minimize distortion from the center of the image to the periphery, across the entire zoom range. This new optical array provides straight lines with minimal curve throughout the zoom range, ideal for architectural, event, and forensic photography. The lens also features one Super UD element and one UD lens element to help significantly reduce chromatic aberration and deliver sharp images with high resolution. Canon’s advanced lens coating technologies are also liberally employed to help minimize ghosting and flare, while simultaneously enhancing accurate color balance and maximum light transmission efficiency.

“Canon is very proud of its optical heritage. The creation of this new lens continues our tradition of providing photographers with unique image-making solutions that are not only thoughtfully designed but precisely engineered and manufactured,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO of Canon U.S.A., Inc. “The new Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM ultra wide-angle zoom lens features newly developed optics and an unprecedented combination of Canon optical technologies. We are very eager to see the beautiful images that photographers will create using this new lens with Canon EOS DSLR and Cinema EOS cameras.”

The new Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens’ impressive 11mm starting focal length and 9-blade circular aperture help deliver beautiful, high-quality, detailed images. The new lens accurately reproduces straight lines in the subject with minimal distortion, ideal for architectural and landscape photographers looking to create images with tremendous depth and strong perspective.

Wide-angle lenses are especially prone to flare and ghosting. To help reduce these effects, the new Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens features Canon’s proprietary Sub-Wavelength Structure Coating (SWC) and Air Sphere Coating (ASC). SWC is applied to the rear surface of the first and second aspheric lens elements, while ASC is used on the front of the fourth element. The SWC coatings are particularly effective for combatting flare and ghosting caused by light rays entering the lens at a large angle of incidence, while the ASC coating helps mitigate the same problems for light rays entering the center of the lens. The new lens also employs Canon’s Super Spectra Coating (SSC) to enhance light transmission while at the same time optimizing color reproduction accuracy.

The Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens features a meticulously designed inner focusing system and zoom ring, as well as a built-in petal type lens hood with light-shielding grooves. Along with a high-speed CPU and optimized AF algorithms, this lens enables fast and accurate autofocusing, while its full-time manual focus feature allows manual focus adjustment even in AF mode. As with all L-series lenses, this durable new lens is highly resistant to dust and water -- ideal for outdoor photography even when conditions are harsh. In addition, a fluorine coating on the front and rear surfaces of the lens helps reduce smears and fingerprints and makes the lens easier to clean.

Pricing and Availability
The Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM ultra wide-angle zoom lens joins the robust line up of Canon f/4L USM zoom lenses including 16-35mm, 17-40mm, 24-70mm, 24-105mm, 70-200mm, and 200-400mm + 1.4X Extender models. It is scheduled to be available in late February 2015 for an estimated retail price of $2,999.00.

Could be interesting if nothing else, just the fact that they can make it write DNGs is a pretty crazy start.

The Canon 5D Mark III will now record 4K, raw thanks to A1ex and his team at ML. The resolutions available are: 1920×960 @ 50p (both 1:1 crop and full-frame – 3×3 pixel binning) 1920×800 @ 60p (same as above) 1920×1080 @ 45p and 48p (3×3 binning) 1920×1920 @ 24p (1:1 square crop) 3072×1920 @ 24p (1:1 crop) 3840×1600 @ 24p (1:1 crop) 4096×2560 @ 12.5p (1:1 crop) 4096×1440 @ 25p (1:1 crop)

Limitations currently exist, of course (no sound is recorded and B/W display) but recording time seems very useful (no limits quoted, if they exist.)

Nebula Gyro Jib with Nebula 4200 Lite and Nebula REMOTE for new shooting plan https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15923/nebula-gyro-jib-with-nebula-4200-lite-and-nebula-remote-for-new-shooting-plan Sat, 22 Oct 2016 22:35:52 +0000 Avril_Lovin 15923@/talks/discussions Filmpower has expanded the Nebula series in IBC 2016. This time, we introduced Nebula Gyro Jib, different form other Jib, is exactly a perfect match of Nebula 4200 and Nebula 5300. It just like a brand new “handle”, through the dove-tail slot, gimbal can be mounted on it. Now you may switch Nebula 4200 over the spring arm, the 3 axis handle, the single handle or the jib.

Because the camera is still on the stabilizer, that means Nebula Gyro Jib can carry cameras like the Canon XC15 and Panasonic PX230 which is compatible with Nebula 5300. With the help of Gimbal’s lock mode, making the camera stays locked on to a given target as the jib is moved. Also, if you switch to the semi-lock mode, it allows the camera to follow jib’s movement on the horizontal direction but stay locked as the jib moving up or down.

Further more, the Nebula Remote can be added as the controller unit to remote control gimbal’s Pitch and Yaw axis and mode switching, so that the direction of camera can be easily changed. Users may also remote control camera to start/stop recording by using the Remote. This system breaks the angle limit of traditional jibs.

Of course there are some features similar to other travel jibs such as easy to assemble, easy to monitor and easy for transportation. Nebula Gyro Jib is made of carbon fiber, making it only weights 1.4kg while having a reasonable length of 2.4m when fully extended. There are standard 1/4 and 3/8 screw holes on the jib for monitor and tripod. It can use regular weights or a handy donut shaped counter weight water bag as the standard fitting.

Canon U.S.A., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the highly anticipated Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L II USM lens, a second generation compact super-telephoto zoom lens featuring significant advancements in optical quality, image stabilization performance up-to-four steps, and rotating-zoom-ring design. This new L-series super- telephoto zoom lens features Canon L-series weather resistance and rugged magnesium housing to meet the needs of wildlife and sports photographers or photojournalists working out in the elements. Fully compatible with all EOS cameras, the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L II USM features a completely redesigned optical formula containing one Fluorite and one Super UD lens element ─ a combination unique to lenses in this focal range ─ to help deliver sharp images with high resolution and contrast. This combination of elements helps thoroughly suppress chromatic aberration throughout the entire zoom range.

"The Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L II USM is the logical evolution of the very popular EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM introduced 16 years ago," said Yuichi Ishizuka, President and COO of Canon U.S.A., Inc., "This long awaited, next generation lens was developed to be a highly portable and adaptable telephoto zoom lens for today's modern professional and advanced amateur photographers."

For photographers who want to work as closely as possible to their subjects, the minimum focusing distance of the lens has been reduced to just 3.2 ft. (0.98m), resulting in maximum magnification of 0.31x. The original EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM was well known for its push-pull zoom adjustment, but the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L II USM uses a rotation-type zoom ring similar to the one found on the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM lens that allows for more precise adjustments, easier handling, and consistently excellent weight balance during handheld photography. In addition, the lens features an improved zoom torque adjustment ring that allows for the easy setting of zoom tension based on personal shooting preferences. The Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L II USM also features an inner focusing system, a powerful yet quiet Ring USM, a high-speed CPU and optimized auto focus (AF) algorithms for fast and accurate autofocusing in various shooting situations.

The Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L II USM features three Image Stabilization (IS) modes ─ standard, panning, and during exposure only. Each IS mode is individually engineered to help provide outstanding results in a wide variety of shooting situations, and all serve to satisfy the personal preferences of photographers based on the type of IS they desire. The optical IS provides up to four shutter speed steps of correction, increased from 1.5 steps in the previous model*. In addition, the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L II USM features Canon's newly developed Air Sphere Coating (ASC) which helps to reduce backlit flaring and ghosting significantly, as well as a 9-bladed circular aperture Electro-Magnetic Diaphragm that helps to enhance beautiful, softly blurred backgrounds.

As with all L-series lenses, the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L II USM is highly resistant to dust and water, with excellent durability in even harsh conditions, ideal for wildlife photographers even in rainforest environments, or sports photographers on the sideline grabbing action shots of the big game. Fluorine coating on the front and rear surfaces of the lens can repel dust particles and water droplets. It also makes smears and fingerprints easy to remove without the use of lens cleaning fluid. Included with the lens is the new ET-83D lens hood, that features a cleverly placed and convenient side window allowing the user to easily adjust specialty filters while the lens hood remains in place. In addition, the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L II USM is equipped with a newly designed detachable tripod mount which can be removed to reduce weight during handheld operation.

55mm Canon F1.2 S.S.C, your experience ? https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1621/55mm-canon-f1.2-s.s.c-your-experience- Fri, 02 Dec 2011 11:18:08 +0000 feha 1621@/talks/discussions Wonder if any one had experience using it on GH2 ?]]> The Aria Ombra mai Fu, from Handel's Opera Serse. https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14911/the-aria-ombra-mai-fu-from-handels-opera-serse. Sat, 02 Apr 2016 14:19:48 +0000 DrDave 14911@/talks/discussions Countertenor Christopher Lowrey sings the aria Ombra mai fù, from Handel's opera Serse. 4K, Ultra HD video from the Voices of Music "Art of the Countertenor" concert, March, 2016.

Handel’s arias form one of the core repertories for singers of 18th-century music, owing not only to the quality of the compositions but also to the variety of affects and styles present in his operas, oratorios and sacred music. The aria “Ombra mai fù,” known also as “Handel’s Largo,” is one of his best-known works; somewhat surprisingly, it comes down to us through a circuitous path. The original version was composed by Cavalli in the mid-17th century, then “borrowed” by Bononcini for his 1694 production of the opera Serse, then substantially revised by Handel for his own version of Serse which premiered in London in April of 1738. Handel's version retains the overall texture, scoring and melodic shapes of the original, but Handel reworks the vocal line and creates more interplay between the singer and the violins.

Vintage Lenses Recommendation (Contax Yashica, Canon FD, Minolta MD / Rokkor) https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15280/vintage-lenses-recommendation-contax-yashica-canon-fd-minolta-md-rokkor Sat, 25 Jun 2016 11:52:51 +0000 VortekShow 15280@/talks/discussions Hello camera nerds,

I need your help. I want to build a lens set from affordable but superb vintage lenses for cinematography. These 3 brands would be adapted via an passive adapter onto my Samsung NX1.

Focal lengths I am generally interested in: 24 or 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm

I'll need some experts opinion on which brand to go for. I don't know wether to go for Contax Yashica, Canon FD or Minolta vintage lenses so hit me up with your knowledge and recommendation. It is much appreciated.

GH2 - Wise choise for the future? Speedbooster and Canon EF lenses https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14845/gh2-wise-choise-for-the-future-speedbooster-and-canon-ef-lenses Mon, 21 Mar 2016 11:01:50 +0000 testering 14845@/talks/discussions Hi, I hope I got the correct category for this thread. A friend and I share a GH2 with a lot of equipment like crane, tripod, follow focus, shoulder rig, slider etc. We need an advice for lenses we also could use in the future on a newer camera. GH2 is getting old, has to much noise, is not weather resistent and so on.

GH4, a Canon or a Blackmagic camera could be the choice in the future. As far as I figured out if we choose the path with Canon EF lenses we can use them on MFT cameras with Metabones Speedbooster EF to MFT Ultra 0.71x.

  1. Would you advise to use Canon EF mount lenses with Speedbooster instead of native MFT mount lenses? Brands like Rokinon offer mounts in different variations so my plan would be to buy Rokinon lenses as EF mounts and put them on the Speedbooster on MFT devices.
  2. What about powering the speedbooster? Do I need external power source on GH2 if I want to use electronic lenses?
  3. Could you also recommend some wide angle lenses for our GH2?
  4. What do we shoot? Nothing special just basic stuff like nature, streets, indoor, ...

Thanks in advance
