Have a nice day
  • This is my last post here. I'm tired.

Basically no activity, no interactions, etc. Like being the only sober at the worst cocaine party of the decade.

Obviously i missed the fun days a decade ago. Thank you and goodbye.

PS! Must Russia win the fucking war in Ukistan.

    :-/

    Don't leave on emotions.

Yes, it is little activity now.

But things change and capitalism will fall.

Plus having nice source of independent information on present politics and electronics is not bad at all.

  • Espen, I get it. I was actually just dropping in to shamelessly promote my site, but looking at some recent GH2 hack posts/requests was tempted to post a sorta call to action post for those who patched their GH2 and still own one or those who worked on it to try and start at least one new active thread. I know it may not be in line with the purpose of this site, but the GH2 was the hero of this site in terms of interest. It was a much needed camera for us with the means to get it at the time. However I think it's actually a much needed camera for many in the third world who want to create at this time or simply poor folks/kids/etc, because the cameras many of us have now are ridiculously out of reach for many. Shit, I am still paying mine off. So revitalizing it and maybe even re-opening the hacks for a next generation to explore any unturned stones of what can be achieved with the GH2 may be worth while. Beyond that I always thought/hoped this site making an open source camera with a decent sensor would be an ultimate end game, but I always have my head in the clouds. As for war, capitalism and communism, I am sorry to bluntly say it VK, but I think this dialogue, right or wrong drove people away more than any other factor. Even when I agree with you, what you likely don't understand, is that anytime a russian says the word Capitalist or Capitalism we at least in the US have flashbacks to many movies of the 80's with Russians spouting "Die Capitalist Dogs" or some other catch phrase. The characters were made to look stupid, and sadly even I have a knee jerk reaction and a bit of an "Oof" reaction when you talk about the fall of capitalism. Again, I'm not taking sides here, and I know your views are not so black and white. I just think the timing of when you started being more vocal was not great in terms of maintaining traffic here. I would not bet against this site being re-vitalized, but I think you'd have to leave the politics out of it and focus more on hard core film making techniques, and encourage these talks, as this beyond the GH2 patches is what drew me to this site. The knowledge here was and still is far beyond that of any site out there in terms of true industry professional insight and experience shared. I mean re-organizing past conversations to show case this alone though I imagine amazingly complex would make for some great reading for folks that have no idea the depth of conversations and knowledge of filming gear and technique existing on this site. Anyways, hope this doesn't come off as overly harsh. I've always been cheering for this site from the side lines.

Look, check reality around. My country is at war and under heavy sanctions. Ukraine is being actively destroyed. All main capitalist countries are preparing to WW III at full spead. Despite their nice words sometimes.

Btw, guy who had been here active visitor and participated in initial political discussion is now leading voice of left in Russia. So, things are not so simple.

  • I am sure they are not so simple, and I understand very well the urge to speak out against injustice and social issues. There is a gaping gap in this regard in the world because so many spend their time online shouting at a small controlled circle of individuals. It's your site and you will do as you wish, my point is simply that people are here to learn about camera's. In the darkest of times we need escapes from the darkness, photography and videography are great escapes, and I think many are turned off by political discussions on a camera site, regardless of whether there is a need for the discussion. That being said, at the very least if you have the need to express your views, maybe tie it in with some photography and video on the issues from photo journalists. Make a connection with the artists documenting these dark times, and the if you feel so inclined show casing the moments of light within the darkness. Personally the later would be my focus. I don't want to upset you, I know you put a great deal of care and work into personal-view. It's just hard to be a successful international camera knowledge site if the first thing people see is anti capitalist rhetoric, regardless of how on point it may or may not be. The majority of my life I have been running at %5 speed because I know most can't handle 100%. It's the sad reality and why we repeat so many mistakes of the past. Still they won't go any faster just because I can.
