Panasonic Imgapp web protocol hacks

  • it seems like it's 22 secs video and thus its bitrate is about 41 Mbit/s. So definitely not a 200Mbps encode.. :(

  • @JOFO I think what is happening is similar to what would happen to the GH2. The encoder is stressed out, and then drops to a lower 'protection' mode bitrate. Could be a hardware limitation- both in LSI/ SDCard write speed, or even SDCard slot write speed.

Then again this may work on GH5 with more powerful LSI & V90 card?

  • but 41M is a bit low for hw limit as G80 can record 100M 4k video without any issue on 60MB/s cards... I have a feeling that we're not going to get any bitrate or profile hack through protocol hack on G80.. sadly :(

  • @JOFO on GH2 when you made up super high bitrates it would just bottom out. So it wouldn't do the 'highest available' bitrate- rather some really low 'protection' mode bitrate.

  • If you want to try by yourself here its a html file with plenty of hight bitrates requests: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B10Ows_xNNgHTWwyaEdIOUU4RWs/view?usp=drivesdk Connect, tryan option, back on browser and repeat.

  • no HBR mode worked.. :)

  • Did you try all of them? All?

  • Don't give up guys. I'm sure this wouldn't have been put into the camera without any real use. I'll play with this when I get time.

  • After many requested combinations G80 accepts: <P><A HREF="http://192.168.54.1/cam.cgi? mode=setsetting&type=videoquality&value=mov_25p_100mbps">mov 25p 100MBPS</A></P>

    And

    <P><A HREF="http://192.168.54.1/cam.cgi? mode=setsetting&type=videoquality&value=mov_25p_200mbps">mov 25p 200MBPS</A></P>

Both generate same .mov corrupt files, so no hight bitrates here.

If you send http://192.168.54.1/cam.cgi?mode=setsetting&type=colormode&value=vlog_gamma camera accepts and change color profile to "Standar". Weird.

    Keep on searching

  • @Grimor

May be we really need to start some combined and open hacking effort.

I mean, at least he have now simple way to set parameters.

  • User BTM_Pix at eoshd is using "packet capture" for android to study camera-app communication. There are many cameras and many different modes/features for each one to try. Its like a "hide and seek" game.

  • It's a very curious trick... What's the possibilities that something like this can bring us?

  • in theory you can command at wish at some point. seem this app is able to control the machine since we do manage to access functions apparently disabled. i wish vitally could unite forces and make a next hack for this series of LSI, since 400mbits on HVECc seem promising.

  • Got it! We can only send commands and see if the camera responds.

Would be awesome if we could copy features from one camera to another. Such as high bitrates, v-log, anamorphic mode...

  • Did anything happen to the 200mbps mode ?

  • No luck. I spent many hours with my G80 and nothing really usefull was found. Interesting things/prototypes was made by @BTM_pix but suddenly he disapear from online comunity. The man is missing, sadly.

  • BTM_Pix reappeared, probably with some good news soon.

  • He's back

  • Old topic, but anyone knows if increasing 1080p bitrate on the G80/81/85 via html went any further? @Grimor attempts seem gone pretty close. Just wondering if efforts continued or were communicated in other channels/forums.

–nostalgic about those colors, mad at the crippled bitrate sky banding.

  • I think sky banding happens from 8 bit color in this case, not a bitrate issue on already pretty high bitrates (haven't tested though, so I could be wrong)

  • Anyway, I'd love to try this and experiment but it looks like the files have been locked away from being downloaded without requesting access... I managed to get a file from someone else that deploys Cine V/D on a GX85, but I don't know if I can modify it to work for my G85 and I still am not sure what I need to do to know all the possible commands available to try out

Looks like I've been given access to one file but it turns out to be the same one I already have... not sure if there are modified html files for me to try
