It is the second of two films in the series. This one was exhibited at Art-A-Whirl in Gallery 135 at the Thorp Building, projected on a wall at 1080p through my Kowa anamorphic lens as a loop with 45 seconds of blank in between screenings. It is not really made with web viewing in mind, it supposed to be viewed in an art gallery, but some folks here on the forum expressed interest in seeing my work, so I uploaded it to share with the community.

I shot it all on GH2 with @Driftwood Moon Trial 5. I used a Kowa 16-H with Redstan clamps and a Lightcraft Workshop Fader ND Mark II, mounted on a Konica Hexanon 40mm f1.8, usually stopped down to f2.8 or even f4.

I hope you enjoy it, and I hope it is of some use. Feedback and questions are of course welcome!

There was so much life that ended up being captured after we picked a shot and filmed, I just loved to film and film

And what else can be said about the GH3? I've never had such a better time color grading footage. So glad I brought this camera over the GH2

Camera: GH3, natural, -5 -5 0 -5, 200 iso for everything minus the couple night time scenes (never went above 800 IIRC), used the EM5 for couple of scenes (Thank god for that stabilization!) Lenses: 12mm olympus f2, 75mm olympus f1.8, 25mm Voigtlander f0.95, and 35mm SlrMagic

Aurora Teaser - GH2 mixed with RED EPIC (Zeiss Ultra Primes) https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6971/aurora-teaser-gh2-mixed-with-red-epic-zeiss-ultra-primes Wed, 15 May 2013 04:07:30 +0000 DaveVegas 6971@/talks/discussions Hey everyone!

We shot a teaser trailer for my new film "Aurora" last week. Given our timeframe and budget we used the Panasonic GH2 to intercut with certain RED EPIC material. But first, here's the teaser trailer:

We used the Canis Majoris hack on the GH2 (Day) and had several Zeiss Ultra primes on set which we could attach to the GH2 using an EF-Adapter. This is how it looks like:

http://aurorafilm.org/P1000099.JPG http://aurorafilm.org/P1000100.JPG http://aurorafilm.org/P1000101.JPG

And here some comparisons between GH2 and EPIC:

I think the GH2 stood up to the EPIC and let me know which shots you think were shot on EPIC and which on GH2!

Solo Acoustic Guitar Music Video https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6924/solo-acoustic-guitar-music-video Thu, 09 May 2013 13:38:51 +0000 _OZ 6924@/talks/discussions This is my first video project. I'm a musician actually (composer mostly), and I just recently invested in a GH3 and some lenses to start doing some video work, mostly of my musician friends so far. Here is a video of guitarist Chuck Johnson.

Camera A: GH3 with SlR Magic 25mm Camera B on Jib: GH2 unhacked with Rokkor 50mm 1.7 for close-ups, and Nikkor 28mm 2.8 for wide overhead shots.

Shooting was fun, editing was a blast, color....Wow! Color grading is very humbling. In the end, I'm not happy with the colors on the side angled camera shots. I tried my best, but obviously that's an area of expertise and skill that will take much more time to learn.

In any case, feedback would be much appreciated!

So we're doing what we've coined "reverse-crowdfunding"...we put up the money for the film first and are now using the legitimacy of IndieGoGo to clear debt/deferred payments and distribute by offering a pay-what-you-want download for backers.

Our feature was really low budget, but feels and looks very relevant...especially to someone in their 20s....but you be the judge. I'm interested to hear what people think of this strategy. Surely we'll make lots of mistakes & learn a lot, let me be the guinea pig.

Here's our links:

Thanks for feedback & opinions...we've never quite seen anyone go about distribution this way before...

Griffin and Gretchen (Web Series) https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6868/griffin-and-gretchen-web-series Wed, 01 May 2013 20:10:56 +0000 Mckinise 6868@/talks/discussions As many of you know I have created a Kickstarter to get my feature length motion picture into theaters. Yes, we will be paying to have it shown. If interested you can check it out at

http://Angelsaliensandmonsters.com

Anyway, a couple months ago I wrote, produced, directed, and starred in a short film. It was originally supposed to be a web series, but fate intervened.

Project Name: Griffin and Gretchen Duration: 3: 25 Seconds (Episode 1) Camera: Canon T2i

Story: First time directing with a first time DP. We had one day to shoot both episodes before the snowstorm hit.

We tiered the production to have actors arrive at specific times so we could make the most of the day. Didn't happen. Only one actor was on time, and that actor was the one scheduled for late afternoon. Needless to say we ended up way behind schedule.

Part One is more or less complete. Part Two missed the second half of the story. We ended up splicing together what we had to create a somewhat sensible story.

Production: So many mistakes. White balance was completely off. The sound was in cam, and a T2i will not win any awards for breath taking audio.

Editing was an adventure. It was too dark, too dark, too noisy, too quiet.

Overall: We learned quite a bit.

SONY Production Awards - you can make it happen! https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6741/sony-production-awards-you-can-make-it-happen Thu, 18 Apr 2013 16:30:30 +0000 GMC 6741@/talks/discussions Hi to the personal-view community!

This is a great forum, I am a community member and GH user from the very beginning (I had one of the first japanese GH1's which I still have, running the hack now for years without any issues) and now I am also using a GH2, of course also hacked.

With the hacked GH's, the fantastic part is you can use old glass (I have a 55mm f1.2 Canon FL, a 50mm f1.4 Canon FD, a 28mm f2.8 FD, a 50mm macro f3.5 FD) and recently also nice newer glass like the SLR Magic 12mm f1.6 or the Voigtlaender 25mm f0.95 for that special cinematic quality.

Using this gear I was very lucky to have 3 vimeo staff picks in the last years - with Vitaliy's hack there seem to be no limits in terms of IQ and the affordability of gear is obviously not the issue any more.

Now I have submitted one of my more recent films "Listen to the heart of Tuscany" to the Sony Production Awards:

http://productionawards.sony.eu/videos/view/39b4f5ff4a5ab5f4b81dddba662a2b56/

I was filming this over the course of 14 days last summer in italy.

The top 20 films make it to the final round, where a panel of industry professionals make the final judgement based on skill and also the gear which was used. Here I think my chances are not bad as I cannot imagine cheaper gear than the GH's (which I both used) with a 50$ Canon FD lens on it.

Now I am currently on 24th (out of 370 entries) - therefore every vote counts! Hence, I would highly appreciate it if you could vote for me and make it happen that the GH's win in a Sony competition!

Unfortunately, it is a bit tedious (but should not take more than 2 minutes), as you have to register first at
http://productionawards.sony.eu/register/ , then click on the link in the subsequent email which is sent to you, and then (once you're logged in) you can use the link of my film above.

I highly appreciate your help!

Thank you all for the fantastic things I learned here, Gunther
