Canon Europe recently conducted a 45 minute interview with Jean-Luc Godard on Goodbye to Language and the resulting conversation is pretty incredible. One could parse through the exchange for hours, but it’s best to watch for yourself and hear Godard on the everything from the melancholic underpinnings of “SMS,” the boundary-less nature of 3D, the fickle ways of language (“montage” vs. “editing”) and exploiting spatial imbalances (the creation of reverse shots). The interview also features a few short clips from Goodbye to Language and the following comment on its title: “When I say ‘farewell’ to language, it really means ‘farewell,’ meaning to say goodbye to my own way of speaking.”

In part two, included below, Godard speaks about his career origins and discovery of the cinematheque, which he describes as “another way of speaking.”.

The first part (The Raid: Redemption) was a success acclaimed by critics and the public. A good thriller movie along with its low budget and as remembered; recorded with the Panasonic AG-AF100 and GH2 (presumably) as B-cam.

The second part was recorded with Red Epic, Red Scarlet and GoPro HD Hero 3. But interesting all the work that's involved in the actual realization.

I asked people to say one word to the camera, with no explanations or commentary, just one word out of two.

Hi everybody - I just wanted to show you a trailer from our feature film shot on the GH2 - I used mainly an olympus 50mm. It is a very low budget movie, but comes in at 82 mins. I used the same patch as Musgo - I threw this trailer together and added the Musgo trailer music for fun. We're having some music written for the trailer so I can officially release it.

It took three weeks and some weekends to make - I know there are better examples of cinematography and imagery - but I love using the GH2 and was more than happy to use it for the film. Where it will go and end up - I don't know. Just glad I saw it through.

I'm not asking for shares or anything - just wanted to show that we used a GH2 and it never let me down.

Shot this almost 3 years ago on Sept 2011. No support gear, no hacks, just GH2 + 14-140mm lens. with my camping gear on my back for 2 nights on the trail. Been sitting in archive since then until last night as the same group is having talks about doing a series of 14ers this summer and got inspired.

720p @ 60fps mainly as I figured the higher frame rate would help with handheld shakiness.
