Professor Richard Muller, a physicist at the University of California, Berkeley, who has been an outspoken critic of the science underpinning global warming, said that there is little doubt in his mind the phenomenon of rising land temperatures is real. Over the past two years, he has chaired a group of scientists who have carried out an exhaustive analysis of more than 1.6 billion temperature recordings collected from more than 39,000 weather stations at land sites around the world.

Also- VK has been hard at work on the new release- so here is a bit of a 'pre-thank-you'.

To do so - simply donate the price of 1 beer in your area of the world (to PV)- along with the image of your areas best ale! ($5??)

This thread is based on honesty- you could just post a beer and not donate a cent- however there is no point in that!
So go ahead - and send VK a nice cold drink! Lets see how many posts we can get!!!]]>

WASHINGTON (AP) — A prominent physicist and skeptic of global warming spent two years trying to find out if mainstream climate scientists were wrong. In the end, he determined they were right: Temperatures really are rising rapidly.

The study of the world's surface temperatures by Richard Muller was partially bankrolled by a foundation connected to global warming deniers. He pursued long-held skeptic theories in analyzing the data. He was spurred to action because of "Climategate," a British scandal involving hacked emails of scientists.

ecat. truth or hoax? https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1286/ecat.-truth-or-hoax Wed, 26 Oct 2011 06:58:36 +0000 brianluce 1286@/talks/discussions In summary, the E-Cat is a cold fusion (CF) device (the inventor, Andrea Rossi, prefers to term the technology “Low Energy Nuclear Reaction” which appears to be the same thing as CF but a less contentious phrasing). I’ll refer you to my Network World column for a more long-winded explanation of the background and theories about the device.

The problem with Rossi’s system is that it is too good to be true. It is claimed that the E-Cat only requires some initial heating to start after which the reaction is self-sustaining. The reaction uses a secret catalyst to transform nickel into copper with heat being produced which can be used to make steam, drive a Stirling engine, or be used for whatever you please.

If this device works as claimed, the world will change and not just a little but hugely and at every level of how we’re organized, how we make stuff, how we travel, and how wealth is distributed. And those changes won’t just impact the US or the Western hemisphere; they will transform the entire world because incredibly cheap energy is the ultimate game changer.

LEGO Rubic's Cube https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1215/lego-rubics-cube Wed, 19 Oct 2011 06:16:27 +0000 Eugene 1215@/talks/discussions Do you think you can do faster?

"This video of the blazingly fast CubeStormer II setting a new world record for solving a Rubik's Cube is all the more impressive given it's built with LEGO Mindstorms and powered by a Samsung Galaxy S II.

The previous record for solving a Rubik's Cube was 5.66 seconds, held by Australian Feliks Zemdegs. It was one of the last remaining tactical advantages mankind held over the machines, but now it's gone. Because Mike Dobson and David Gilday's CubeStormer II has managed to one-up Feliks with a time of 5.352 seconds. Adding insult to injury, human solvers are actually allowed to study the cube before the clock starts. But the CubeStormer II's time includes the mere moments it needed to look it over.

We should all hang our collective heads even lower given the CubeStormer II is built from four LEGO Mindstorm NXT kits, controlled by a custom Android app doing the actual solving. After snapping a photo of each side of the scrambled cube, the app uses a specially developed algorithm to create a solution that's optimized for the solver's gripping mechanism. So in the future if someone set out to build a cube solving robot that wasn't constructed from a building toy, even this record wouldn't stand a chance."

I often think about the effect DSLR's have had on aspiring and seasoned filmmakers and videographers, and I am continually awed at the technology available to the masses. I've also found it very excellent just to be alive right now, 24 years old in 2011, having witnessed the evolution of the internet, personal communication, and artistic expression.

I can't help but feel incredibly happy that I've seen the same technologies that a few years ago we're reserved mainly for film productions with rental insurance, be put into the hands of the hardworking and creative people that deserve to use the same technology.

Every day I go on Vimeo and see countless new videos, most of them shot on DSLR's to my knowledge, and many of them are amazing. I almost feel afraid that I'll start taking this massive influx of creative video expression for granted, but I think maybe it's just a part of getting older and I imagine the children that will grow up with Vimeo and DSLR's everywhere will have no problem keeping pace.

I suppose a lot of people feel the same way, and it's pretty common sense, but also maybe isn't talked about enough when people get caught up in battles about which camera is better... perhaps the same people that only shoot videos of decayed trees and grass (I remain hopeful they will move on to small animals, perhaps even people).

I also remain hopeful about the future of filmmaking. You can't really blame the camera anymore, and that's a wonderful thing because I think it will just increase the quality of peoples work indiscriminately.

So, I think one of my possible points in writing this, is to let us not forget how lucky we are to live in this time, and to not forget that behind every video there's a spirit and a story; and even if it's not easily apparent, it can still be appreciated and encouraged to grow.

Any opinions and thoughts are most welcomed. ]]>

Quite honestly, the 1080p hacked image coming out of this $800 body GH2 is remarkable, and
ESPECIALLY the way you achieved it as an international community of developers with hands tied
behind your back deserves a Documentary !

I've been out torturing @driftwood's 176 GOP 1 patch this morning, and getting solid 1GB/min!
Thank you guys!
In comparison, I've been using @cbrandins 66 Mbps for a month which is very good for the data rate.

STANDARDS APPROVAL QUESTION:
BBC "requires" 50mbit for HD approval, AF100 uses nanoflash to get there.
The GH2 hack far exceeds this.
Any chance you can assemble a BBC_TestMeBaby Patch? DiscoveryHD_TestMeBaby Patch?

At worst, the BBC or Discovery Channel might have someone REPLY and say it does or doesn't meet spec,
and provide feedback!
imagine: BBC_Approved patch, DiscoveryHD_Approved patch

I REPEAT:

You guys deserve an OSCAR for technical achievement!
(let's get you guys nominated!!!)

WASHINGTON — The first wave of U.S. Special Forces Green Berets arrived in Uganda this week to support the battle against a guerrilla group accused of widespread atrocities, Pentagon and military officials told NBC News.

President Barack Obama has ordered up to 100 U.S. military trainers into central Africa to help combat the Lord's Resistance Army, a band of just 200 rebels behind a campaign of murder, rape and kidnapping that began 20 years ago.

Officials told NBC News on Friday the first dozen Green Berets were in Uganda and the remaining American trainers would be deployed to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic and South Sudan.

In the president's notification to Congress on Friday, Obama said the U.S. forces were combat-equipped and would provide assistance and training to regional forces working to remove the group's leader, Joseph Kony, and his band from the battlefield.

U.S. military officials told NBC News that although the Lord's Resistance Army has a force of only about 200 rebels, they have managed to operate for decades because the African nations involved have not pursued them.

The rebels' mobility and the terrain's difficulties also have made for a difficult fight. Attempts to negotiate peace failed in 2008 after Kony refused to sign a deal to end the killing.

U.S. officials told NBC News that the presence of American forces was intended, in part, to push the regional forces into taking action against the rebels.

The largest European hacker club, "Chaos Computer Club" (CCC), has reverse engineered and analyzed a "lawful interception" malware program used by German police forces. It has been found in the wild and submitted to the CCC anonymously. The malware can not only siphon away intimate data but also offers a remote control or backdoor functionality for uploading and executing arbitrary other programs. Significant design and implementation flaws make all of the functionality available to anyone on the internet."

http://www.ccc.de/en/updates/2011/staatstrojaner

The parts about that software I like most:

1) They can upload and execute every software they want. For example they can upload "evidence" (kids porn, bomb construction plans,..) and later secure the computer, which will be used as evidence to denunciate you. Or if you a terrorist, paedophile,.. just install the maleware on your computer and all your data can't be used against you, as it can't be proofen it was put there by you.

2) All data from your computer is first going to an US server....for easy industrial espionage.
