I'm trying to find something that could translate to 14mm (in 35mm land) without overly fish-eyeing. It seems like a lot of people have shot in 4K and used "De-fishing" software to get it looking nice in 1080p.

Found a bunch of 7.5 lenses. As far as I can tell these are as wide as the format can go. But, there are so many. And the Rokinon and Bower look kind of the same. I also noticed Rokinon and Samyang label their last two as "cine".

Any opinions on these lenses?

Rokinon 7.5mm f/3.5 Ultra Wide-Angle Fisheye Lens for Micro 4/3 (Black)

Bower 7.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Micro 4/3 Cameras (Black)

Rokinon 7.5mm f/3.5 Ultra Wide-Angle Fisheye Lens for Micro 4/3 (Silver)

Rokinon 7.5mm T3.8 Cine UMC Fisheye Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount

Samyang 7.5mm T3.8 Cine UMC Fisheye Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount

Single Focus Anamorphic flame https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11281/single-focus-anamorphic-flame Sun, 14 Sep 2014 21:51:35 +0000 artiswar 11281@/talks/discussions After seeing some of the new "single focus" solutions popping up for anamorphics I started doing some basic optics research. These FF3 from Rectilux and the Focus Module (from Anamorphic Shop) are simply various mechanical recipes of variable diopters on the front of an afocal system (infinity prime and infinity anamorphic focus).

Here's where it's kind of been disclosed.

http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/7111-single-focus-instructions-for-anamorphic-projector-lenses/

I'd love to get some community feedback in building a variable diopter so we can share this info and create from it.

I asked him to shine the lens through with a flashlight and it has this dust inside the lens which you can see in the pic. Can anyone here who has a good understanding of this check it out and suggest if the level of dust seen in the pic is fine for me to go ahead and wont hamper the image quality.

Direct Link: http://www.4shared.com/download/TSeWp89Vce/Shining_light_thru_lens.jpg?lgfp=3000 (Its a larger size picture so that you guys can zoom in for a better look).

Not sharing the exterior pics of the lens as that looked good.

Sigma 18-35mm Companion Lenses https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13051/sigma-18-35mm-companion-lenses Mon, 25 May 2015 09:17:17 +0000 chopnshoot 13051@/talks/discussions I'm currently looking for lenses that compliment the Sigma 18-35mm in terms of characteristics, color and sharpness. Zooms (preferably) and primes. Nothing slower than 2.8 if we're talking zooms and nothing slower that 1.8 if we're talking primes. I'm looking for modern glass only. The 18-35mm is my go to lens right now but I need something on the longer end in particular. I've also been thinking about going wider with the Tokina. I've been looking at the Sigma 50-150mm 2.8 for example as a good portrait to telephoto lens.

I'm a Nikon mount guy so no Canon L glass, please.

This is for the NX1. I'm not going to invest in the Samsung glass after thinking about it for awhile. I want to stick to a mount that I know will outlast the camera.

I'm looking at getting the Panasonic 12-35/2.8 and looking for a longer lens to replace my Panasonic 35-100/2.8 which I like for stills, but not for the OIS jitter when shooting video. Does anyone have any experience shooting handheld with OIS with either the P12-35/2.8 and the P45-175? My LX100 OIS is good, but my 35-100 is very poor.

The two lenses will be used with my GX7 and possibly the new G7 for multicam shooting (I also have the LX100 for a smaller third cam).

I have the SLR Magic 12mm lens with me which is a 24mm equiv on the GH2 and will be 28mm on the GH4 in 4K mode. The samyang with the SB will be wider (14mm on the GH2 with SB & 16mm on the GH4 in 4K mode and will be a F2).

Which out of the 2 is the better lens? I have the option of selling the SLR Magic to a film maker i know and the Samyang costs roundabout the same as what i am selling the 12mm for.

Kindly advice.

P.S- I have been recommended to go for the Samyang compared to a Tokina 11-16mm (EF) as they said It's sharper and has better CA control. Views on this.

30mm and 35mm lenses choosing, Sigma, Samyang, others https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4820/30mm-and-35mm-lenses-choosing-sigma-samyang-others Fri, 05 Oct 2012 09:39:11 +0000 RyanPW 4820@/talks/discussions Perhaps this topic has been talked about to death, but I haven't seen a thread on here about it and I figured some of you could convince me one way or the other on which lens I should be getting.

From my standpoint, the Sigma is better at shooting people and has FAR less breathing issues, but it is not as optically perfect as the Samyang, which is far sharper and has no barrel distortion. On the crop of the GH2, the 35mm makes less sense than it does on aps-c and even less than on a 5d (which I find it looks great on). The sigma doesn't have a dedicated aperture ring, but I do have a Novoflex Nikon to m43 adapter, so I'm personally all set to buy the Sigma, if it is ultimately going to be the right move...I know that, while there is a lot of focus breathing involved with the Samyang, and it isn't the best at shooting people in a 'naturalistic' kind of way like the, it does look great as a general composition tool and would probably end up taking optically better photos with.

Right now I have the tamron 17-50 f2.8, a minolta 24mm f2.8 (which I'm thinking about selling dependent on which lens I'm getting), a SMC 50mm and a Nikon 85mm f1.8d. In many ways, I wish I could just buy each of the voigtlanders and call it a day, but alas, I haven't sold any organs on the black market, yet...

How do you guys way in on these two lenses? Do you think there's a lens in this range that I have't considered enough of yet? I'm also thinking of going with the 25mm leica f1.4 and getting the voigtlander 40mm to go with it, but so far I've just been really enamored with both of these lenses. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

At 12mm and maximum aperture, sharpness is already excellent across the frame, and even outstanding in the center. At this focal length, diffraction appears to be the limiting factor on clarity, with the performance of the lens reducing as the aperture is stopped down.

image

18mm show similar performance, with outstanding sharpness in the center of the frame at maximum aperture, although excellent sharpness isn’t achieved towards the edges of the frame until the aperture is stopped down to f/5.6 for this focal length.

At 24mm, sharpness remains excellent in the center of the frame at maximum aperture, and is still very good towards the edges of the frame.

image

12-24mm optic performs well, delivering excellent, or even outstanding sharpness from a compact, lightweight lens that doesn't cost the earth.

was wondering if anyone has tried some older nikon af-s lenses , 70-200 f/2.8 and af-s 300 f/4 (for example) , for there compatability for wildlife videos, eg red kites soaring around looking for prey where i need to zoom in and out allot acurately.

Now comes the BUT:
As you can see on the picture this thing is huuge. And heavy. I bought the original Olympus adapter, but still the lense has about 4 mm play at the front. (XY.. not Z ;)

As soon as you touch follow focus things become shaky. I already phoned Oly if there was some kind of clamp to fix it to the rig... but nothing. The cam is mounted in cage, but this lense is simply so long and heave that its to much for the mount i guess.

Any ideas who makes such clamp for a specific diameter? I don´t want to do DIY on this, it should match as bought.

PS:
If you think this would suit better into an existing topic let me know.

Found this lens in a thrift shop https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12449/found-this-lens-in-a-thrift-shop Mon, 23 Feb 2015 22:30:59 +0000 MBlue 12449@/talks/discussions I need some help figuring out how to use this lens I found in a thrift shop. I've been lurking around this forum for a couple weeks and you guys seem like the friendliest most knowledgeable group so I figured I'd give you a shot.

I'm pretty new to m43 photography, and digital in general. My last camera was a Minolta X370. I just went out and bought a used GH2 and an adapter for my old MD mount 50mm f1.7, but I've been wanting more lenses so I was cruising local thrift shops and I came across something that looked like an anamorphic lens. I bought it without thinking (it was pretty cheap) but now I have no idea how to use it.

It says "SANKOR ANAMO-PRIME LENS f=95mm-3.74in Japan" on the side in blue letters. I googled that and apparently there are a million just like it on ebay, but no reviews, camera tests, stats, nothing. It looks kinda like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sankor-Anamo-Prime-Anamorphic-f-95mm-3-74-in-Theater-Proector-Lens-/271743605595?nma=true&si=Vg%252BTHgfPDrHc8kswmEhylSSwtXA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Except its a little more beat up.

I've read about mounting anamorphics with a taking lens and focusing both of them to the same distance, but that doesn't seem to be working for this one, or at least not with me hand holding it against my 50mm. It only cost $30, but after buying the GH2 I'm pretty broke and now I'm scared I threw away what money I had left on a shitty, unpopular lens I can't use.

Does anyone know anything about this lens?
