Sony Introduces the New Super-Telephoto 600mm F4 G Master Prime Lens

Sony's longest reaching prime lens is world's lightest in its class, featuring high-performance AF, high resolution and beautiful bokeh

Sony today announced another impressive addition to its flagship full-frame G Master series lens line-up, the new FE 600mm F4 GM OSS super-telephoto prime lens (model SEL600F40GM).

Sony's longest reaching prime lens, the new 600mm includes many of the company's most advanced optical and mechanical technologies, producing exceptional image quality with extraordinary focusing speed and precision. The lightest in its class[i], weighing in at only approx. 3040g, the FE 600mm F4 GM OSS features an extremely balanced design to ensure the best possible shooting experience. Along with the acclaimed FE 400mm F2.8 GM OSS lens, the new 600mm gives professional sports, wildlife and news photographers more options for capturing subjects at great distances with extreme accuracy and detail.

"With two new lenses announced today, our growing E-mount lens line-up now includes 33 full-frame models and 51 lenses in total. The 10th model from our flagship G Master series, the new 600mm F4 raises the bar for speed, mobility and control in a super-telephoto prime lens," said Yann Salmon Legagneur, Director of Product Marketing, Digital Imaging at Sony Europe. "Combining the extensive 600mm reach with features like 20 fps shooting and AF/AE calculations at 60 times per second on the α9 or extremely high resolution, high speed performance on the α7R III allow professional photographers to create images that were simply not possible to capture before."

Fast, Precise and Quiet Autofocus

To take best advantage of the highly evolved autofocus systems of Sony's latest full-frame E-mount cameras, the new FE 600mm F4 GM OSS lens features two XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors that drive the lens' focus group to provide fast, precise AF and reliable subject tracking. These motors are supported by specially developed motion algorithms to minimise lag and instability, as well as to control noise levels, resulting in exceptionally quick, accurate and quiet autofocus performance, allowing the lens to capture dynamic, fast moving athletes or wildlife with ease.

Superb G Master Image Quality and Bokeh

As a member of Sony's flagship G Master series lenses, this new large aperture super-telephoto prime lens features an incredible level of image quality and detail, with outstanding contrast and resolution maintained all the way to the corners of the image. The unique optical design includes a large XA (extreme aspherical) and an ED (extra-low dispersion) element that effectively suppress all common telephoto lens aberrations, plus three fluorite elements that help to minimise chromatic aberration and suppress any amount of colour bleeding. Sony's latest bokeh simulation technologies and XA element are also utilised to control spherical aberration and help achieve exquisite bokeh.

The lens also features an 11-blade circular aperture mechanism that contributes to the high quality of bokeh in images, and has been coated with Sony's original Nano AR coating to suppress any unwanted reflections, glare, or ghosting in images.

The new FE 600mm F4 GM OSS is compatible with Sony's 1.4x and 2.0x E-mount tele-converters, producing outstanding imaging performance at extended focal lengths[iii] while maintaining fast, precise AF performance.

Lightweight, Balanced Design

Weighing in at only approx. 3040g, the new super-telephoto prime lens is the lightest in its classi, providing a level of portability and manoeuvrability that has never been achieved before in a lens of its style. Based on technology from the acclaimed FE 400mm F2.8 GM OSS lens, the lightweight design of the new 600mm lens is achieved through the usage of three fluorite elements, with a reduced number of elements deployed at the front of the barrel. Magnesium alloy is also used throughout the lens to help minimise weight and bulk.

Also inherited from FE 400mm F2.8 GM OSS, the new 600mm lens features a lens design that is not front-heavy, reducing moment of inertia that resists rotation, ensuring quicker, more precise panning when shooting handheld or on a monopod.

Durability, Reliability and Control

To withstand the harsh conditions of sporting events and wildlife photography, Sony's new FE 600mm F4 GM OSS is built with a durable magnesium alloy and a strong, lightweight carbon fibre hood. The lens is also dust and moisture resistant[iv], and its front element is coated with fluorine to resist dirt and fingerprints.

There is also an ample number of hard controls on the lens, including customisable focus-hold buttons in four different locations on the lens barrel, which can be programmed for control of features, if desired. There is also a 'Full-Time DMF' switch to immediately engage manual focus at any point, and a focus ring that features Linear Response MF for fine, responsive manual focus.

Additionally, the new lens includes built-in optical stabilisation for dynamic action and three different 'Mode' settings, including a Mode 3[v] setting with an advanced algorithm that ensures easier framing when following moving subjects. It also features a function ring with selectable 'Preset' and 'Function' settings, and a drop-in filter slot that accepts ø 40.5mm ND and other filter types, as well as the optional VF-DCPL1 Drop-in Circular Polarising Filter. The VF-DCPL1 filter can be rotated to achieve the desired polarisation while installed in the lens.

Pricing and Availability

The FE 600mm F4 GM OSS will ship in Europe in August 2019, priced at approximately £12,000 and €14,000

15mm F4 Venus Laowa Wide-Angle Macro Lens https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13268/15mm-f4-venus-laowa-wide-angle-macro-lens Wed, 24 Jun 2015 04:53:36 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 13268@/talks/discussions image

Venus Optics, the Chinese camera lenses manufacturer who had launched the world’s first 2:1 Macro Lens in last Sept, has just released the world’s widest Macro lens for full frame cameras, Laowa 15mm f/4 Wide-Angled 1:1 Macro Lens.

The new Laowa 15mm f/4 1:1 Macro lens is the first lens in the market which posseses an ultra wide angle of view and 1:1 Macro ability. This allows photographers from around the world to start experiencing the rather undeveloped field of ‘Wide Angle Macro Photography’ without using an extension tube. Macro Lenses currently in the market tend to have a mid to long focal length and it limits users to take very close-up shots on the insect or flowers, without showing much of the background details like its habitat or environment.

The new Laowa 15mm f/4 1:1 Macro lens features an ultra wide angle of view of 110 degrees with 1:1 maximum magnification. Photographers can focus very close to the subject and let the foreground dominate the photo but at the same time, have the background telling viewers about where and how the subject lives. Your picture will immdiately become very informative and intriguing.

The lens can also serve as an excellent ultra-wide angle lenses with infinity focus for cameras with full frame sensors. A shift mechanism is added at the rear end of the lens with a maximum adjustment of +/- 6mm, which is extremely useful for landscape/architecture photography for distortion correction.

The lens houses 12 elements in 9 groups with 3 pieces of High Refractive elements and 1 piece of Extra-low dispersion elements to deliver crystal sharpness both in the center and the edge. Barrel Distortion was also carefully controlled. 14 pieces of aperture blades form a close-to-circular aperture, capable of creating creamy shallow depth of view. The enclosure of the lens is made of metal to strengthen its durability. Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony Alpha, Sony FE and Pentax K mounts are available.

Pricing and Availability

The Laowa 15mm f/4 wide-angle macro lens is currently available at authorized resellers and at the official English website www.venuslens.net. The recommended retail price is at £419. Free shipping will be provided during the promotion period. Pre-order starts from today and shipping will start from late July.

Fuji needs a 73mm 1.4 lens https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/23593/fuji-needs-a-73mm-1.4-lens Fri, 28 Feb 2020 22:03:21 +0000 apefos 23593@/talks/discussions Fujifilm fast primes are: 16mm 1.4 = FF24mm / 23mm 1.4 = FF34,5mm / 35mm 1.4 = FF52,5mm / 56mm 1.2 = FF84mm / 90mm 2 = FF135mm

So 73mm 1.4 = FF109,5mm would be nice. Reasons are: there is a huge gap between the 56mm and the 90mm and the 90mm is f2, a little slower compared to the others.

So a 73mm 1.4 = FF109,5mm would be nice for face close-up and for situations when camera is distant from the subject or when you want a more tele look, keeping a fast 1.4 aperture.

Limited-edition Summicron M Leica lenses https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/23540/limited-edition-summicron-m-leica-lenses Mon, 17 Feb 2020 08:10:05 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 23540@/talks/discussions image

Leica Camera is delighted to present three new lenses for the Leica M-System: the silver anodised APO-Summicron-M 75 f/2 ASPH. as well as two limited editions, the Summicron-M 28 f/2 ASPH. and APO-Summicron-M 90 f/2 ASPH. which both come in an olive-green ‘Safari’ finish. The technical specifications of the three new lenses are identical to those of their serially produced counterparts.

The APO-Summicron-M 75 f/2 ASPH. is known as one of the most high-performing lenses for the Leica M-System and is particularly suitable for portrait photography. The new lens variation features an anodised finish and in contrast to the black-paint variant, the feet markings on the distance scale as well as the focal length engravings are inlaid in red, while all other engravings feature black inlays, emphasising the sophisticated design of the Leica M.

Leica is also releasing two limited editions, the Summicron-M 28 f/2 ASPH. and APO-Summicron-M 90 f/2 ASPH. with a special, olive-green paint finish. Both ‘Safari’-edition lenses feature red-inlaid feet markings on the distance scale and red focal length markings, while all other engravings are inlaid in white, creating a stylish juxtaposition with the olive-green lens.

The exceptionally hard-wearing, olive-green paint has a long-standing tradition at Leica. The first Leica cameras to be treated with this superior-quality enamel finish were designed for military use in 1960. Shortly after, the cameras became widely renowned as robust tools that could withstand even the most extreme conditions and what had started with the Leica M1 ‘Olive’ for the German Armed Forces went on to become an enduring success story. While the Leica M3 and M4 in olive-green were still manufactured exclusively for military use, a growing demand among private customers prompted Leica to release the first market version – the Leica R3 ‘Safari’ – in 1977. This was followed by the M6 TTL ‘Safari’ in 2000, the M8.2 ‘Safari’ in 2008, the M-P (Typ 240) ‘Safari’ of 2015 and, most recently, the M10-P Edition ‘Safari’ in 2019. Today, the olive-green cameras are highly sought-after by collectors and Leica enthusiasts alike.

Aside from the Leica Summicron-M 50 f/2, released in 2019, the new Summicron-M 28 f/2 ASPH. and APO-Summicron-M 90 f/2 ASPH. are the only M lenses to perfectly match the olive-green Leica M10-P Edition ‘Safari’, making the lenses a desirable addition to any Leica M Camera. Only 500 units will be available of the Summicron-M 28 f/2 ASPH. Edition ‘Safari’; the APO-Summicron-M 90 f/2 ASPH. Edition ‘Safari’ is limited to 250 units. You can download high-res images here; all three lenses are available from end of February.

RRP:

  • APO-Summicron-M 75 f/2 ASPH. silver anodised: £3,500
  • Summicron-M 28 f/2 ASPH. Edition ‘Safari’: £3,800
  • APO-Summicron-M 90 f/2 ASPH. Edition ‘Safari’: £4,000

Panasonic is proud to introduce a new interchangeable standard zoom lens, the LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm F2.8 (S-E2470) compatible with the L-Mount system for the LUMIX S Series Full-frame Digital Single Lens Mirrorless Camera. Developed with high-quality professional performance in mind, the LUMIX S Series of cameras and lenses together achieve uncompromised photographic expression..

The LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm F2.8 (S-E2470) is a large-aperture standard zoom lens that boasts high descriptive performance across the entire zoom range. Optical performance is remarkably high, passing stringent LEICA standards.

The rugged dust- and splash-resistant* design withstands harsh conditions and ensures versatile use for landscapes, snaps and portraits with its 24-70mm focal length. The LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm F2.8 features stunningly high resolution and high contrast at each focal length point, with a filter diameter of 82 mm and an 11-blade circular aperture diaphragm. The full-range F2.8 high-speed aperture provides smooth defocus gradation from the focus peak to the neighboring area of the image to achieve a beautiful bokeh effect as well as a rich perspective.

Comprised of 18 lenses in 16 groups, three aspherical lenses and four ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses effectively suppresses both axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration of magnification. The aspherical shape of the lenses corrects astigmatism, achieving high resolving performance. Furthermore, a UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) lens achieves uniform image quality from the center to the edges of the image while downsizing the lens unit.

A double focus system combining linear and stepping motors achieves sensor drive at a maximum speed of 480 fps. This realizes fast, high-precision AF, ensuring the user never misses a photo opportunity. Focus clutch mechanism adoption enables instant AF/MF switching and accurate manual focusing. The LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm F2.8 also excels in video recording performance with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, a common problem in all interchangeable lenses designed for still image photography.

By 2020, Panasonic will design and develop 10 or more Lumix S Pro and other lenses, further expanding the S Series lens lineup. More than 45 interchangeable L-Mount lenses are or will be available from Panasonic, Leica Camera AG and Sigma, demonstrating an almost limitless spectrum of new creative possibilities.

The LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm lens will be available in October for $2199.99.

45mm F4 Hasselblad XCD MF Lens https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/23369/45mm-f4-hasselblad-%E2%80%8Bxcd-mf-lens Wed, 15 Jan 2020 07:32:06 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 23369@/talks/discussions image

Designed to further the capabilities of all X System cameras* by taking high quality imaging even further out into the world, Hasselblad launches the new XCD 4/45P. Designed for the utmost in portability, the XCD 45P stands as the most lightweight and compact member of the XCD lens family. Weighing only 320g (0.7 lbs) and measuring 47mm (1.85 in) in depth, the XCD 45P is the world’s lightest digital medium format autofocus lens on the market today.

The XCD 45P allows photographers to bring high quality optics on any adventure, ranging from travel photography across deserts and up mountains to urban exploration and documentary. Minimal weight combined with superior image quality, the XCD 45P coupled with the X1D II and Phocus Mobile 2 lets creatives go physically further with their creative visions with lighter gear in their kit and a highly portable workflow.

“We’re extremely proud we could produce a lens with as high optical performance as the rest of our XCD lenses in such a compact form,” said Hasselblad Lead Optical Designer, Per Nordlund.

The XCD 45P features an optical design incorporating two aspherical elements, resulting in state-of-the art optical performance within compact dimensions. The XCD 45P has been designed with discreet portability in mind and thanks to evolved designs, both the autofocus motor and leaf shutter have been reduced in audible noise. Photographers will find that the new XCD 45P leaf shutter is less audible than many focal plane mechanical shutters.

With a minimum focus distance of 35cm (13.8 in) and a maximum image scale of 1:5.2, the XCD 45P is even suitable for food or still life photography. Its mechanically connected focus ring gives the lens a responsive and accurate manual focus experience. Just as the other XCD lenses, the XCD 45P is uncompromising in its build quality, technical excellence, optical performance, and balance in handheld use in addition to its built-in leaf shutter that allows for flash sync up to 1/2000s.

The XCD 4/45P has an MSRP of €1199 / £1030 / CNY¥ 8999 including VAT and $1099 / JPY¥130000 excluding VAT. Ordering is available now and shipping to begin in late January 2020.
